“Excellent!! Penthouse Suite = QUAD room”

Hand's down, one of the best hotel experiences for a family of four... ever!!

First of all, Noreen & Phillip McAvoy are the best!

We travelled to Ireland (from California) in October 2011. We're a family of four (two parents, 2 adult children) and we were looking for a quad/family room and we landed the best in Ireland. If you're looking for a quad/family room, book the penthouse suite (room 3A) at the Old Presbytery!!

The room: A two-story, well-appointed (& TWO BATHROOM!!!) room (WITH A SPIRAL STAIRCASE) that is amazingly spacious that more than accommodates four grown people. It comes equipped with ONE double bed downstairs with TWO single beds upstairs annnnnd and additional chaise lounge (and room for a rollaway if necessary, provided in the linen closet). On the bottom floor, there is a kitchen. In the downstairs (spacious & well-lit) bathroom, there is a stand-up shower & toilet. In the upstairs bathroom, there is a toilet and claw-footed bath tub (no shower). Also upstairs, there is a DVD player... you can watch movies from their DVD library!!

Breakfast: Well done, standard Irish breakfast (great variety).

Front desk: Again, Noreen was the hostest with the mostest. We were travelling to England after Kinsale and she saved us a bunch of time and money with her knowledge of navigating the local airports, etc... and she was super forthcoming in whatever way she could help :) They treated us like old friends!

Because Kinsale is so quaint, everywhere is walkable, so this place is perfect!!

If you're looking for a quad, look no further!! This place is wonderful!

Room Tip: 3A, perfect for a family of four (or more..)

“Our favorite B & B of the whole trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

The Old Presbytery has everything; excellent location, delicious breakfasts, parking lot, authentically friendly innkeepers. We loved our town view from the top floor. We had a very spacious room and bath. Noreen and Phillip are such naturals. They obviously enjoy what they do and really make you feel at home. We wish we could have stayed longer than two nights. If you want the best B & B in Kinsale--stay here.

“A great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

The Old Presbytery has been a B&B for many years, but originally it was a Presbytery housing Kinsale's clergy. Our room was overlooking Cork Street and was quite small, with a brass bed and small ensuite but beautifully decorated to suit the era of the building and very comfortable. It is centrally located so you can easily walk around the town and down to the river. The breakfast was one of the best we had in 3 weeks travelling around Ireland. A wonderful fruit salad with at least 6 different fruits, a buffet of various quality cereals with yoghurt and prunes and a large choice of hot breakfasts to choose from in the menu. And of course a choice of coffees and teas. There is also off road parking provided. The only negative would be the shower. Because of the solar tubes (an environmental positive) the hot water takes a while to arrive, but if you are aware in advance you won't stand there thinking there is no hot water. We would definitely stay there again if visiting Kinsale in the future.

“Better than home...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

We just spent four nights at the Old Pres and can't find the right words to express how wonderful it was!! Phillip and Noreen are far more than inn-keepers. By the time we left, we felt like we were leaving old friends. The location is perfect - close to everything in town. We walked everywhere! The rooms are quaint, cozy and the bed so comfy it was hard to get up in the morning. And those breakfasts....what a true treat served beautifully in a lovely dining room. I never needed lunch!

I would definitely go back to Kinsale just for the opportunity to visit with Noreen and Phillip and stay in their lovely B&B. Thanks for a truly memorable visit!

Craig and Nancy Probst

Room Tip: I think they're probably all great!
