“Very Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Stayed for 1 night in October 2011 with my husband (for our wedding anniversary) and our (tragically) seriously ill baby.

I was upset and uneasy when we were contacted by the Blue Haven (sister hotel), where we had made reservations, advising there was an over-booking but that the Old Bank House (down the street) could accommodate us. As it was all last minute, we agreed

For the inconvenience, they gave us a beautiful room - Seomra Chionn tSaill, on the top floor. Spotlessly clean, with tasteful decor, large windows and great views. A challenge getting the pram in and out of the lift but we managed! It wasn't as convenient as staying in a hotel or or what we had intended but it worked. Breakfast was good and baby stayed comfortable throughout

“planning to return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

Stayed here midweek in early december. Arrived between 6 o clock and7 which worked well as parking is free from 6pm until 10.30 am. Also after 7pm you have to check in at the Blue Haven Hotel . Room 9 , on 3rd floor, overlooks the street and has side views of the water. Room Is smallish but is very nice with a high ceiling.Bed was really comfortable. En-suite well appointed, with everything required. Dinner, which was part of the package , is taken in the Blue Haven. Food and service were very good. Music 7 nights a week in the Blue Haven lounge. Called in on 2 nights, music was of a high standard . Breakfast is in the cafe on ground floor of Old Bank House and is available until 10.30 a.m. Again very good standard of food and service. Free parking is a walk away but luckily weather was glorious. Already planning to return.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011 via mobile

We would absolutely recommend this hotel. Great location. We can not understand the bad reviews at all. In our opinion the hotel is not run down or tired looking. Room 17 was very big with lovely views out of the windows.

Jana checked us in and out and she was most helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious. We loved the cheese plate and the croissants were the best we have had in Ireland. There was great choice for a hot breakfast on the menu.

We had a room at the front of the hotel and we didn't hear any outside noise during the night. Wifi in our room. It was my girlfriends birthday and they had left a birthday card on the bed with a bag if fudge, she got a great birthday welcome in Aperitif (a lovely restaurant part of their collection) and complimentary glasses of bubbly. After our meal the lovely waitress came out with a cupcake and a candle in it and sung happy birthday. All lovely touches and the hotel/ restaurant went to such great trouble.

One tiny problem was regulating the water temperature of our shower. It was very frustrating and kept going from hot to cold. Also the pressure was dreadful. We had a weak flow. Maybe this can be fixed.

“not great at all...”

Apart from the location of this Guest House/Hotel there is nothing attractive about this hotel. The bed was reasonably comfortable and the room/ bathroom was clean. The breakfast was one of the worst i've had in a long time. The staff were pleasant, but I would not recommend.
