“Top notch Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Have just returned from a two night stay in Springfield House and cannot speak highly enough of the welcome received and the hospitality offered during our stay. Upon arrival Maureen arranged tea, biscuits and home-made mince pies for us (very tasty). She also kindly supplied a map of Clonakilty and advised on where to park and eat in town.
We were attending a wedding reception the following day in nearby Dunmore House Hotel. Maureen arranged for her husband to give us a lift to the hotel so that our car could remain at the B&B for departure in the morning. Again, this was way above and beyond what we would expect, but were extremely grateful for such kindness.
Maureen cooks an excellent full Irish breakfast and is happy to offer an alternative to this if required. Cereal, fruit and yoghurt is also available.
The room was large and comfortable with lots of storage space and an en-suite. Fresh towels were provided each morning.
All in all, we would highly recommend a stay in Springfield House B&B and would like to thank Maureen and John for being such wonderful hosts.

“Warm welcome, quiet rooms, hearty breakfast, would gladly stay again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2011

Despite our very late arrival to Springfield House, we were welcomed with a very enthusiastic hello from John and his lovely daughter-in-law. Despite it being past 8pm, she served us piping hot tea and cookies upon our arrival. Our ensuite room had a tv and plenty of closet space with two double beds. They also provided a play yard (pack-n-play) for our infant to sleep securely, as well as some baby shampoo--very thoughtful! House was quiet and we slept like babies. Their home is quite lovely with beautiful woodwork and furniture. Maureen made a wonderful full traditional Irish Breakfast and even gave us some chocolate prior to our departure. We wished we'd more time to spend chatting with this wonderful family, but due to our late arrival, we didn't have much of a chance. Would highly recommend!

Thanks so much for your kind comments. Sprigfield House B&B, West Cork is located in a peaceful, country area - on a dairy farm - surrounded by natures beauty and a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean. We provide fresh farm produce and home cooking is a speciaility. We would be pleased to welcome you back in the future. Maureen & John

“RIP OFF IRELAND IS STILL ALIVE AND WELL!”

I booked this room through Booking.com in a hurry - on the website (Booking.com), no mention was made of the fact that there were only some rooms en-suite. We arrived late, at 9 o'clock, and were shown to our room. It was a tiny single/double room, with no en-suite - we were subsequently told that the bathroom in the corridor was our "en-suite"! My husband told me that it was the most depressing room he ever stayed in. There were no "amazing" views from our bedroom window either! How did it get 4 stars?? When we asked if there was somewhere to eat we were told that it was probably too late and that the owner could rustle us up a sandwich - I asked if she could do a salad - she said she would try. We went down to the breakfast room later and were seated in front of a salad - which was small, but tasty. When we went to pay the bill the next morning - the owner quoted us €105 (the room having being €76) - which was a difference of €29 - I assume this was for the two small salads that wouldn't have come to €2.50 in value!! That evening on the way home we stopped for something to eat in a restaurant and I noted that the salads there were €10.50 each - and they came with chips!! My suggestion is that if you are staying here, bring your own supper! Personally, I'll be staying in hotels in future, where I will be guaranteed an en-suite, TV in my room and space!!! Plus, I'll be keeping plenty of people in a job too............

Thanks for the review. It is very disappointing to hear your comments as generally all comments and reveiws are very postive about Springfield House B&B. Evening Meals are not provided but on this occassion due to the late arrival, a salad plate and dessert was organised on a late request. Like Breakfast, plenty of food and good portions are always provided. Springfield House B&B offers good, clean quality rooms, great service, fabulous home cooked breakfasts and all at very resonable prices. Maureen & John

“Room with a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2010

My wife, our youngest (16) and I stayed for five nights end of May. We found a very nice house on a hill with sea view. Inside it was even better. Comfortable rooms, a very good breakfast with lokal products and all the attention one might want. Starting from a pleasant talk to good tips for outings in all sorts of weather (we had all). I would have been prepared to pay more for this good accomodation.
Since it's not easy to find, if you don't know the area, give Maureen a call or send her a mail and she'll give you a good description.

“Amazing BB with amazing Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2009

One of my friends booked Springfield House B&B as we were attending a wedding in the area. At first, i was disappointed we were not booked into the hotel but boy was I pleasantly surprised. Arrived at the B&B in early Oct and the weather was great, the views from Springfield House were fab. Maureen greeted our party (6 people) and was very welcoming. As we showered & got ready to attend the wedding, Maureen got Tea and snacks ready for us which we needed prior to the long day ahead. We had a ball at the wedding and arrived back at Springfield late.... Maureen gave us a late full irish breakfast which was much appreciated before we left. Our thanks to Maureen & Co. From (as she said) the 6 wild ones!
