“Mouldy Toast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Stayed here as part of a groupon deal, with my boyfriend. We were greeted at the train station by the manager who escorted us to the hotel. We had a lovely stay and everything was brilliant, good view, relaxing time just what we wanted. The only downfall was the following morning when we had breakfast we received 2 baskets of mouldy toast, which is unacceptable. I have to say it did put me off my breakfast a bit, & I know from currently working in a hotel myself fresh bread is a must in the morning. The waitress gave us a muffin between us, with two forks, which really isn't acceptable. The only bit of advice I would give is to be more aware of these things, for health & safety reasons. Bar staff were extremely friendly, if I got a good deal for this hotel I'd come back.

Niamh.

Hello Niamh. Thank you for purchasing one of our Groupon Deals and for visiting us at the Waterside House Hotel. I am so happy that you got to avail of our courtesy train.airport pickup and it assisted in your relaxing getaway. Also, thank you so much for bringing to our attention the issue with your bread the following morning and apologies for this situation even occuring. As this is not a common issue in our hotel, when i brought your review to our Head Chef's attention he already knew about it and was extremely unhappy with this situaton and has looked into reasons that this could have happened as we receive fresh bread on a daily basis from our suppliers as well as our homemade breads. Again, this has been dealt with and we will enforce this never happening again. I am very happy that you did not let this overshadow your stay and you will choose to return to our coastal hotel. We will look forward to seeing you again at the Waterside in the near future. Aoife

“The best alround Hotel experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Faultless - Sea-view room - Great breakfast with lots of choice - Great patio to sit out at night time - Good bar with great Guinness and Sky Sports -When we asked for lift to Donabate the manager put us into his Mercedes and drove us to to the Train Station. On our return to station he sent a waiter out to pick us up.
They could not do enough for us
We have stayed in a lot of Hotels in Ireland and England and this is up there with the best

Room Tip: Ask for Sea-view

“Beautiful Location But such a dissapointing place to sleep”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

My self and my boyfriend stayed here for my Birthday just gone.

Location
The location is gorgeous you are right on the beach, and at night time if you get a clear night and a full moon like we were lucky to have it is so Romantic to sit on the swings out in the decking area and over look the beautiful lights of Howth and the reflection on the sea.
Unfortunatly after informing that it was a special weekend on arrival we were very dissapointed. Location wise it is great for anyone like myself who just wanted to getaway. But I would not go again without a car, train station is about 30 min walk and thats if your not tired!

Rooms
We had booked a Excutive Suite, but there IS NOTHING EXCUTIVE about the room its a standard Family room, A double bed and a single bed, so firstly this is not even under the right catagory of room types. The room smelt of feces and damp, when I went to reception I was shown a choice of three rooms, too the same(with out the smell) and one with what we booked, a double bed with a sofa.

Overall
The whole place is decorated in very old fashion designs but its not the nice kind of old style it just makes the place look old, outdated and unpleasant.

The night staff where very helpful, Harish thank you for the lovely Food, even after dinner was finished.
It was an enjoyable time, but that really was my company and the occasion to be honest.

Cost
The prices are absolutly outragous though, Breakfast per person is €10 and room service is €5 again per person, Considering I have stayed in the Hiton, Raddison and Carlton and have had Room Service Breakfast for the both of us and it cost €15 for both of us, that's not only half the price, but nearly 3 times the food you get, but really the only good thing is the location.
Dinner Prices are fairly reasonable, considering the food is so good you won't leave a crumb even if your not sure you can phically eat another bite.

BIG TIP FOR ANYONE who wants to stay here, take a trip and check out the rooms firstly if yor wanting a special time, and contact reception in advance and ask for anything you may need, Karen was a great help with my question.

Audrey

Room Tip: Sea View Groung Floor or just make sure if you book a Excutive suite, they dont try give you somethi...

Hello. Thank you for your details and descriptive review. I am so happy that you enjoyed the romantic and relaxing setting on our outdoor sun terrace which overlooks those amazing views. Apologies that you had to walk to our hotel from the train station, but as stated on our website etc, we are more than happy to collect you at the train station or airport so next time, if you are visiting our hotel, just give us a quick call or an email and we will organise your courtesy collection and drop off at the train station to save the walk. We offer this to all of our guests. I am so sorry that you were unhappy with your room choices and I hope the Front Desk were able to assist in finding you a more suitable room for your requirements so you could enjoy the remainder of your stay with us. Regarding your breakfast and room service. These prices are extremely competitive with prices in other irish hotels and restaurants as the average price for full irish breakfast is €10 and we offer room only rates and bed and breakfats rates to offer the option of purchasing this for guests. Likewise, €5 per person room service is also standard and again, is optional. I will pass these comments onto our management team for discussion. I have passed on your comments regarding your evening meal to our head chef. Thank you and I am glad you enjoyed your meal. I have also passed on your compliments to Harish. Again, thank you once again for all of your helpful and informative feedback and we hope to see you again at the Waterside. Aoife

“Coastal Haven”

You could not improve on the location of this hotel, stunning coastal views across to Irelands Eye, Howth and Lampay Island, right on the beach. A warm and personal welcome from all the staff, excellent food, well equipped and spotless rooms. Hard to find fault ! Definitely on the list to revisit.

Room Tip: Worth choosing a first floor seaview room for the amazing views

“Irelands Hidden Gem”

Wanted to find a gorgeous little relaxing hotel break by the sea before starting back to work after Xmas and boy did I find it in the Waterside House Hotel !! Situated right on the beach, tucked away in a most beautiful part of ireland yet within easy access of Dublin and the airport it is certaintly a hidden gem. From the lovely helpful staff, to the food, the service, entertainment I couldnt have wanted more. Have stayed in many hotels in ireland and this ranks in my top three. You will not be disappointed. I came for a sole break but ended up ringin up family and friends to come and share the wonderful experience with me. Have already planned a return in the spring. Cant recommend it highly enough and keen to check out its sister hotel, The Station House in Co. Meath!

Room Tip: Sea view room are bright and sunny
