“Best B and B in Dingle”

I stayed for 2 nights in August with my mother and a friend traveling from Alabama.
We can not say enough about this B & B. It all starts with the Host and his hospitality.
Everything he serves is homemade. We had wonderful baking lesson one morning on how to make scones, the best. The trip from town to find this B & B is well worth it. It was fine. I want to send a hello to Noreen. And special Thank You to a job well done to Brandon who is learning about the B & B business. He did a fantastic job helping Jim with the breakfast on our last morning. We highly recommend this b & b. It is number #1 on our list. We will be back when we return to Ireland again.

“The perfect host!”

This B&B is unique and special because of its charming host, Jimmy. The food is outstanding, imagine Baileys Irish Cream on your oatmeal. The big pink house is a bit of a ride from town, but worth it.

Room Tip: The last front room has a double view.

“You must stay here!”

My wife and I, along with my daughter and son-in-law, spent two nights here in September 2011. It was our favorite B&B in Ireland. Jimmy welcomed us as if we were long lost friends. His answer to "when is breakfast?": "when do you want it?" He even drove me to a local pub just up the road for a pint late one night. After the first day of sightseeing, he sat and chatted with us in the comfortable living room. He taught my wife to make scones because she loves to bake, and they gathered fresh eggs together from Jimmy's chicken coop one morning. Staying at Coill An Rois is as comfortable and familiar as visiting your cousin or best friend. It's homey, comfortable, clean, and very close to Dingle Town. We will definitely be visiting again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room upstairs to avoid the traffic from the front door and front living room activities.

John and i had a great time at coill an rois, upon arrival Jimmy greeted us with a warm welcome and we had coffee and home made scones and muffins while jimmy recommended places to see and some top notch restaurants. we have never experienced hospitality like it!! Jimmy's breakfasts were amazing and we particularly liked the porridge with baileys cream followed by american style pancakes. Thank-you Jimmy, we'll be back.

“My favorite B&B in Ireland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

Coill an Róis, or "Forest of the Roses" for the rest of us, is a wonderful B&B located in what many consider to be the most scenic area of Ireland. Several kilometers outside of Dingle, the great strength of the place is its owner Jimmy Bruic, who welcomes new and returning guests as if they're members of his family. He might even joke that he treats his guests better than family.

My first stay there I was greated with warm tea and biscuits, and had the pleasure of sitting in a living room common area with other guests, including some hikers from other parts of Europe staying for the night, a not-uncommon experience in that part of the country. The common area is a great way to relax and meet a diverse group of friendly people, if you so desire.

I was traveling with a friend and both our rooms were clean, spacious and meticulously kept, with their own private showers that were as large as any I saw during my trips through Ireland. The types of guests while we were staying ranged from several couples, two groups of friends, and a couple of hikers, equally split between males and females, with the ages of the guests ranging from twenties through their sixties. There were Americans, Irish citizens staying for the weekend, and others from Germany and Italy. All in all, a friendly group of people. The rates are quite reasonable as the B&B is just outside of town.

Your host Jimmy is a chef by trade. I mention that because his breakfasts are tremendous and will get you going as you head out on a day of touring. He's more than happy to give you suggestions on places to visiit and directions on how to start your journey.

A couple of logistical notes: If you're looking for a B&B right in the middle of town, then Coill an Róis is probably not for you, but if you're open to being just outside of Dingle (a quick ten minute car ride) and staying at a B&B that offers the quiet and charm of the Irish countryside with easy access to Slea Head and the Dingle Peninsula, then by all means make Coill an Róis your destination. One stay and you will probably make it a regular stop when you return to Dingle again. (I plan yet another return in 2012.) Just be prepared on your very first drive to the B&B to have a moment of "I must be lost" when you hang a right off the main road (it's marked by a sign for the B&B) and travel down what seems to be a hidden road. Just as your questioning your direction, you'll see the lovely pink house that will be your home away from home, Coill an Róis. Last, Jimmy usually spends winter in the America, so the B&B shuts down for a few months in December through usually March, reopening spring through fall. If you don't receive a response right away to your email during the winter it's probably because he's away.

I highly recommend Coill an Róis (Forest of the Roses). It's a warm place that you'll no doubt be recommending to other visitors.

Room Tip: It's a B&B, so there's no swimming pool or fitness center, although I did see a hot tub...
