Check in/out:
Check in was speedy and the host gave us a map of Dingle with his best picks for this and that. His choices for food and entertainment are spot on. We made the mistake of going somewhere that was not on his list and we are sorry for it. So ask and take his recommendations. Check out was in a flash.
Staff:
Staffing is the family and they keep a well-run B&B. A fresh breakfast was provided on a custom order basis with ample fresh foods. They Irish breakfast is a must have at least once. After the first time I noticed all Americans in the room passed on the black and white pudding. Don’t get me wrong the breakfast is excellent, it is the pudding that doesn’t fit what any of the Americans there normally would eat. It was just a matter of taste.
Housekeeping:
Everything is very clean and well kept. There are two sitting rooms that provide a comfortable experience. Looking at the front of the house the two middle top windows look out over Dingle bay in a large common area with just a few chairs at the windows. This area is more for enjoying the view. A fun time talking with the other guests can be had in the lounge that is to the right of the front door where all of the chairs are arranged in a circle. Many unique features are to be found here from statues, spy glasses, furniture and more.
Room:
Our room was well furnished with a double bed and a single. There was an abundance of natural lighting from the fixtures as well as light and ventilation from the fully functional roof windows. They were much more than just sky lights. The cable selection was very limited like a basic plus. No SyFy but yes BBC 1 and 2 as well as the usual basic Ireland channels. My other concerns for traveling in Ireland are as follows, Water pressure low as is customary in Ireland. Hot water/shower plenty available with adequate power. Sleep quality very nice. Noise level just like we were visiting someone’s house. The noise level was low, light sleepers should wear ear plugs. Wash clothes: yes. Toilet was fine just underpowered as most are in Ireland. Environmental controls we had full control of the climate in our room, much more so than many places we have stayed. Power supply was all Irish/British outlets. We never found the hair dryer and did not bother to ask the hosts.
Parking:
Off the road parking that is barely adequate for the amount of rooms they rent. Maybe if they allowed some to park out back it would have been less crowded. At the time of our visit on guest had parked crooked. Since parking is so tight all others had to park crooked also to fit without causing damage.
Location:
Excellent location on top of the hill on top of Dingle town. They say that they are out side of town, and that is how it feels, except that the sidewalk that leads to town is across the road and street lamps are just little ways away. So it is a short walk to everything in Dingle town. I think this is the perfect location to stay visiting Dingle because you are not in the tourist crowd in the middle of town and still not far enough out you would need to drive.
Internet:
There is Wi-Fi that works fine everywhere.
Safety:
Always be aware of your surroundings and never act like a tourist. Feels like a country house and the walk to the middle of town doesn’t take long and you are under the lights the whole way.
Helpful hints:
Best pricing I can find for this location is part of an independent travel package.
Additional Information:
Drive all the way through Dingle using the road by the bay and then turn and come up from the bridge (on the west side of Dingle). It is much quicker than going through Dingle down town traffic. I would park here and walk to everywhere in the Dingle town area. This would be much easier that worrying about parking. Again, follow the hosts recommendations for a better time. Get coupons (vouchures) from the internet and some from TI brochures.
Would I stay here again?
Yes, without a doubt, next time in Dingle we will stay here. The place is full even off season so book early.
