I had planned a tour of the Dingle peninsula for a while so started checking out B&B reviews on here. It's been 10 years since I'd taken a B&B in the area and the prices have gone up a little in that time. Most places were about 70euro for a double room for the night. I chose this B&B as many others in the top 10 ranking on Tripadvisor were closed in January. It appears many B&Bs take January and February off. I suppose it is the "quiet" season, but our B&B had 4 other couples (some American, some European) that I saw, and at least 8 cars in the car park to the rear. So they seemed to be able to justify being opened in this wintery season.
The property looks like a new build. It's immaculate and huge. I would guess that they must have at least 10 rooms. The community areas like the lounge etc were very comfortable and had plenty of books to peruse. The views from the south facing house have stunning views out over the sea. This property is not more than a 5 minute walk into the centre of Dingle town, however the property is slightly higher than the town which gives great views. The walk is only a gentle hill though, so no big strain needed. The room accommodation was fabulous. Better than many 4 star hotels I have been in. Coffee and Tea making facilities, very good size room, and very comfortable king bed. The bathroom was also large and looked immaculate. Very clean, nicely tiled, and good size shower. The water took a while to heat up in the morning (left shower running) and never got scorching hot, just hot. It was ok though. The breakfast is where this B&B pushes itself way ahead of the competition. It was divine. An excellent selection of buffet cereals, yoghurt, scones, muffins etc, and then a server to take your cooked breakfast order. They could meet any requests from full Irish, to omelettes to scrambled or poached etc. The Poached eggs were perfectly done. The toast was excellent quality soda bread or wholemeal etc, not just sliced from a packet. To my discredit I was mildly hungover so didn't get to enjoy it as much as I would have liked. I would actually be thinking about the breakfast if I stayed there again and would limit my drinking the night before. thats how good it was. The breakfast is served in a glass conservatory with tiled floors and a nice bright view out over the water. perfect.
John (the owner) was very nice but not intrusive and I felt comfortable he would meet any requests he could to ensure your stay was great. I imagine they will be full almost every night during peak season, but I would certainly try and stay here again. You may find a B&B for 10euro cheaper, but you won't find the luxury room, and amazing breakfast on offer. Well worth it.
Room Tip: I'm sure you could ask for a south facing room if you wished. It was not a conern for us as it w...
