“lovely B&B, even lovelier owner!”

My parents and I had only planned to be in Kenmare for 1 night. We called Noreen in the late afternoon and she had a room for us that night. But due to some car trouble, we wound up staying 3 nights! Noreen was so kind and helpful. We weren't sure, day to day, if we would need to stay another night and she was very accommodating, even giving us a ride to the mechanic to pick up our car on our last day (and helping us phone around to find someone to fix the car in the first place!)
Our room was very comfortable (we wound up having to share a triple room due to our lack of planning!), altho it was a bit small (but perfectly adequate). the room and ensuite bath were all well appointed and clean. The furnishings are not the most modern but this is not a super fancy B&B - still, it is very comfortable and clean. the breakfasts were excellent and always served by Noreen who took great care of us!
The B&B is a little ways outside of town, maybe 5-10 minutes or so by car. This left us a little stranded with our car trouble, but between Noreen or her husband giving us a lift, taxis and walking we were able to make it work. The walk, tho long (maybe 40 minutes) was very pretty - down a side road and over the bridge over the Kenmare River.
Although our situation was unfortunate, we really enjoyed our stay in Kenmare and at the WatersEdge. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, clean, comfortable place to stay in Kenmare! Noreen will take excellent care of you! And Kenmare is a great little town - not a bad place to be stuck for 3 days!

“Comfort just outside of Kenmare”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

The Watersedge is a nice guesthouse just across the bridge from Kenmare. The rooms are spacoius and clean, the beds are confortable, the rooms could use some additional seating to relax. The view from our room was a great view of the bay. The town square was just a short drive across the bridge. The square was probably normally within walking distance but it was raining and the walkway across the bridge was closed during bridge repairs. The breakfast selection was varied and good.

Our family stayed at the Watersedge b&b for two nights in September 2011. I cannot say enough good things about this b&b and the hostess, Noreen. We had rooms 3 & 4 and both were very large, nicely decorated, and extremely clean. The bathrooms were very well laid out and extremly clean as well. The view of the lake from our windows was beautiful. We had a wonderful time hanging out there in the evenings. One night we watched a dvd from their collection on the flat screen tv in our room. Noreen had tea and treats in the dining room for us around the clock. The breakfast menu to select from was vast and was delicious both mornings. We drove into Kenmare the first day (only a 3minute drive) and we walked into Kenmare the next day - about a 10minute walk. Very nice walk cutting through the path on their property. Noreen was a very gracious host. I would recommend this b&b to everyone wishing to stay in Kenmare, Ireland.

“Nice quiet B&B in great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

I recently stayed at this B&B with my wife for one night. We enjoyed our stay here although it was brief. Our room (#4) was very nice and spacious. We had a twin bed. Bathroom was big and clean. Our breakfast was excellent. We both had the smoked salmon, eggs, & toast. The B&B is located just outside of town. It is a solid 10 minute walk into town. It was very quiet on the night we were there. The town itself has several pubs although the food is a little more expensive here than in some of the towns we've visited in Ireland to date (6). Only slight negative is that the wi-fi didn't work real well in a our room which was located on the second floor. It was hit and miss. We had to go downstairs to the dining room where it worked just fine. One side note is that there is a self serve laundry facility in town which isn't always common in Irish towns for those traveling for an extended period. It (O'Sheay's) is located in town on I believe Main Street and not a km north of town as the Rick Steves book indicates. The facility north of town is an O'Sheay's but is a commercial facility. I plan on emailing Rick for an update :-) .....Great B&B though if want you to stay just a little bit outside of town in a quiet place.

“A very lovely B&B in a beautiful location! We loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

Our family stayed at The Watersedge B&B in June of 2011, and had a wonderful time there. We were greeted when we drove up by Gypsi, their friendly family dog (which we all loved!) We found the two rooms we stayed in spacious, clean and very inviting, with a TV/DVD in each room, lots of DVDs in the lobby, and wireless internet. Our host Noreen was very friendly and helpful in offering local information. The location was just outside of town, but there was a direct path from their backyard down to the town for a short ten-minute walk, which we enjoyed after driving most of the day. We parked our car and never used it until we left. One of the highlights of our stay was the patio in the backyard, which overlooked the beautiful bay. What a lovely and relaxing place to enjoy the sunset as well as coffee the next morning. We also had absolutely delicious breakfasts (a variety of them since there were six of us, but our favorite was the smoked salmon). After we left, Noreen found some things we had left behind and contacted us to see if we wanted to stop by to pick them up. We were too far to return when we got the message, so she packed it up and sent it to us in the U.S. Now, that’s service! We would highly recommend this B&B. It clearly was one of the best places we stayed on our trip to Ireland!
