We have just returned from a wonderful week staying in Apartment Timanfaya at Finca Malvasia, together with our 15 month old son. We love Lanzarote and are keen road cyclists and this is the best place we have stayed so far. Located less than 25mins drive from the airport but in a gorgeously peaceful spot in the middle of the vineyards, Richard and Tarnya have thought of everything for their guests. The apartments are spacious and tastefully furnished and decorated, the kitchens are well equipped, baby equipment (cots, highchairs and also a basket of age appropriate toys, a cupboard full of beach toys, etc) are provided and the terraces are especially suited to children as they are gated so they can't escape to the poolside quite so quickly! Comfortable beds and nice touches such as bathrobes, plenty of towels, etc. Rather than travel with baby and bikes, we rented our bikes from the excellent Pro Bike in La Santa town, and when we arrived, Richard and Tarnya had even collected our bikes due to the Pro Bike owners being out of town. We found the location of the Finca perfect for doing various road rides both in the North and South of the Island. There is a bumpy track down to the Finca, but it is probably less than 1km long so not a problem on a road bike. The location is also perfect for eating at a number of delicious restaurants - we sampled several from Finca Malvasia's brilliant welcome guide. There is an excellent supermarket (Ropers) less than 10mins drive away in Tias, and we also had delicious asaderos (take away food e.g. tortilla, stews) from Baya Baya in St Bartolome just about 15mins drive away. We found the location and accommodation perfect for both a relaxing break for us parents - had an amazing massage from the local masseuse who will come to the finca - as well as being a welcoming place to bring a young child. It is also an absolutely perfect spot for enjoying all the amazing road cycling Lanzarote has to offer, sample delicious local wines and eat extremely well! The hosts Richard, Tarnya, Jo and Joss have created a wonderful oasis in Lanzarote :)

We have recently returned from a fantastic week long stay at Finca Malvasia with out 2 children (aged 2 and 6). The Finca was exactly what we had hoped: lovely accommodation (2 bedroom apartment with a separate living area and great patio), beautiful surroundings (volcanoes and vineyards) and a lovely pool literally 2 metres away from the apartment (with a boltable gate to keep our 2 year old out of mischief!) Richard and Tarnya (and Joss, their son) were incredibly friendly and the guidebook they have compiled was invaluable to find good places to eat and visit.

The location is superb being so close to the airport (only about 15 minutes away) without any of the drawbacks. The finca is well situated for exploring the island: nothing is much more than half an hour away and there are a variety of sights to see and beaches to enjoy. As the Finca is small (only 4 apartments) the atmosphere is really friendly and we found that there were like-minded people (families and couples) staying when we were there. We definitely aim to go back as we were really sad to leave.....

We stayed with our toddler at the end of September. I have to admit that before the holiday my expectations of Lanzarote were fairly low, but friends and family who had previously been persuaded us to go. I'm so glad they did because we had a wonderful time. Finca Malvasia is lovely and Richard and Tarnya are great hosts. The location is gorgeous - in a vineyard between volcanoes - and so peaceful. Our accommodation was clean, comfortable and stylish. Our son had an extremely comfortable looking cot and he was delighted with the basket of toys that had been left in the room for him. We chose to have breakfast delivered to us every morning and also ordered a tagine on one night - both were delicious. Richard and Tarnya have obviously given a lot of thought to making guest stays comfortable and enjoyable - DVDs, an eclectic selection of CDs, pool and beach toys and a really useful guide to the island including restaurant recommendations. A great place to stay and highly recommended.

We stayed (as a couple) in Finca Malvasia in October, having read all the reviews it was pretty much as expected. Tarnya and Richard were really helpful if we needed anything and the guide they give you pre-stay is extremely informative and we relied on it the whole time. Finca Malvasia is a great place to stay away from all the coastal touristy areas with wonderful views, which is just what we wanted.

One negative thing is that there are 3 bungalows all joined together and you are unlikely to get a peaceful lie-in if there are children staying next to you as you can hear everything through the walls! There is a separate bungalow which we would have loved but unfortunately it was booked at the time - I would highly recommend trying to book that if you are a couple.
