Me & my partner stayed here for 2 nights in October 2011. We were visiting Alton Towers for the scarefest.
Check in was quick & easy & staff were very friendly & welcoming. Upon entering our room on the upper floor we found it to be a little cold and thought the window must have been left open. However upon closer inspection the window was infact closed. Window had an old wood frame and you could hear passing traffic. I was quick to put the in room radiator on which warmed up the room very quickly. I do think maybe a pair of curtains up at the window would help! Room had a very comfortable double bed along with a mini LCD TV. Main bedroom was very clean but did find the remains for someones hair stuck to bathroom tiles in the shower! I'm not one to fuss so just washed this away with the shower head.
Very easy to find and loacted opposite a McDonalds with a Tescos just over the road. Accommodation is attatched to a Hungry Horse pub with decent pub grub at good price.
Overall this place is in an excellent location for Alton Towers & good value for money.

stayed here 3 times and last 2 times was acceptable however this stay on 22/10/2011 wasnt up to much, the toilet was dirty and we had no curtains and the room looked as if it hadnt seen a hoover or duster for days. i must add though that on the positive side, the bed was clean and very comfortable and it was in a great location for tesco and macdonalds and the attached pub is very friendly.

I dont understand the negative reviews!? We (me and my boyfriend with another couple) stayed here for two nights. The staff were polite and friendly although reception is unmanned after 10pm. Our rooms were clean but could definitely use some cosmetic work. A lively bar downstairs withstand great atmosphere but cant be heard from the room. McDonald's and Tesco over the road which is convenient! Quick 15 min drive from alton towers which is great! Great hotel, would stay again! Dont be knocked by bad reviews, it is what u make of it!

Easy to find. Located opposite Mcdonalds. Attached to a hungry horse pub. Room was basic but the carpet needed hoovering and the shower curtain could have done with replacing but for the price and the one night stay it was acceptable. We did have food in the attached pub which was very reasonable and good. However the breakfast buffet the following morning was not up to much, but the cooked breakfast option was.
