We were going to a wedding near Sudbury and the hotel where most of the other guests had booked into (the Mill) was fully booked. The next place I called was the Olde Bull and I'm so glad they had a room for us, we loved staying here! It's a very unique timbered building dating from 1540, you won't stay in many places that look like this. I'm not sure what the other rooms look like but we had the Brown Room, which was small but really authentic looking, even featuring a minstrel's gallery in the room! The furnishings are maybe a little retro and it's not a luxury 4 star hotel but for the price it's fantastic, you really can't complain. The bed was really comfortable, we got the friendliest greeting ever from the owner, Patrick, and breakfasts were great. There is a lot of traffic going by the hotel at all times so it's not the quietest place ever but there's not much you can do about that, it's in a good position to walk to the town centre from. I should also mention the owner's dog, Fritz the mini dachshund, I've never come across a dog I adored so much! If we were ever in Sudbury another time we would definitely stay here again.
