This is not a hotel, it is a pub with rooms, we found it in the AA 2007 Pub Guide.
We paid £85 for a double room (actually it was a triple, included a single bed as well) on a saturday night. I thought that this was a bit on the steep side for what you get. However, the room was very clean as was the bedding. The room could do with the decor updating as it is a bit shabby. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and tidy but a bit dated. No toiletries supplied but plenty of hot water and clean towels.
We paid about £25 each for the evening meal and it was truly superb. An excellent choice available and very well cooked and presented. We had garlic mushrooms with stilton, a smoked salmon tartlet followed by tuna steak and a rack of lamb. For dessert profiteroles and a wonderful dish called chocolate junkyard. The food and service could not be faulted.
The atmosphere in the pub was excellent with plenty of real ales.
Breakfast the next morning was also superb, limited choice but freshly cooked full english breakfast or variant only. Cereals and toast and juice provided.
Overall an excellent visit
