It has all been said already, but we must confirm just how good Underleigh House is. Philip and Vivienne are indeed the perfect hosts, and the breakfasts are even better than described by previous reviewers. Our ground floor room opened out on to a very pretty patio area and in before breakfast we enjoyed watching a variety of birds, including a woodpecker, feasting at the bird feeder. The accommodation is immaculate, with many thoughtful little touches such as the tea and cake on arrival, and an umbrella available in the bedroom. The views are beautiful and Vivienne gave us very helpful advice on planning a walk. Breakfast is taken refectory style, and we enjoyed chatting to other guests over the beautifully cooked and presented food. We definitely intend to return and cannot recommend too highly. Why can't more UK establishments be like this !

“Excellent Guest House”

My family and I stayled at Underleigh House for a wedding at the hotel next door. What a fantistic choice.
Philip and Vivienne were the most perfect hosts and as soon as we drove into the car park they were at the door welcoming us and offering tea and cake after our long journey.
My husband and I were staying in the Derwent Suite and were most surprised at the most beautiful accomodation. The room was large with a king sized most comfortable bed ever and a large ensuite with a walk in shower. A few steps down there was a separate lounge which included a tv and tea/coffee facility.
The breakfast were out of this world with a choice of cereal or home made muesli together with a variety of fruits and yoghurt. There was also a large cooked breakfast (if you can eat it) and toast with a variety of home made jams and marmalade.
Philip and Vivienne have thought of every possible comfort for their guest with a number of little special touches. We had with us our 92 year old mother and Vivienne immediately stated that she would drive her to the hotel next door for the wedding a most wonderful gesture.
The gardens overlook the most stunnng views of Loose Hill and if you are staying for a sight seeing visit, Philip has downloaded many walks you are able to take around the area.
Our stay at Underleigh House is the very best and well deserved star rating and reviews.

“An idyllic B&B in the Hope Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2011

What more could be perfect than returning each day after a long walk to be welcomed by Philip & Vivienne with a pot of tea and a slice of cake in the garrden - and this is exactly what happened during our recent stay at Underleigh House. Its was this kind of service that really makes a difference, and nothing was too much trouble at all for Philip or Vivienne during our stay.

We stayed in the Derwent Suite which is a fabulously large suite with a large sitting room with beautiful views of Win Hill and the Hope Valley - everything was spotless and beautifully furnished. One of the real plus points (amongst many) of Underleigh House is the fact that you can leave your car and just walk straight from the door, there are so many fantastic walks to choose from (along the ridges to Mam Tor on a sunny day was superb) and they have printed out plenty of walks which you can follow.

Breakfast was a real treat - with an amazing array of compotes and jams - all homemade. The cooked breakfast was delicious and the mushrooms were particularly yummy! Underleigh House was just perfect for a weekend of walking in lovely, peaceful surroundings and we will definitely return for another dose!

“The gold standard of B&Bs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2011

We loved this place! Phillip and Vivienne bring guest service to a whole new level. Extremely helpful - the food was amazing with a veritable groaning board of choice including 6 types of homemade preserves - even gluten free sausages for me. Gluten free biscuits & tea in the comfy guest lounge are just part of the service they offer. They even have print outs of walks right from the door. Excellent!

We arrived to be greeted by Philip and Vivienne who are more than welcoming. After a full tour of the stunning Underleigh house we were shown to our clean, cosy and comfortable room where every need is catered for. Vivienne then made us tea and cake and we sat outside in the beautiful gardens.
The breakfast was more than described to be from the awards and reviews on here. It was delicous.
One of the very best we have stayed in and will return.
