I last visited this pub with my parents over 50 years ago so welcomed the chance to visit again on a visit to Derbyshire. I was delighterd to find that the place has not been the victim of conversion to a trendy pub!
The welcome was warm, the Inn itself full of real character and the food excellent.
Our bedroom was clean and comfortable with an en suite bathroom with bath and over bath shower. Whilst just about adequate , the water flow from the shower was far from plentiful!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay, the excellent dinners and really hearty, freshly cooked breakfasts and will certainly visit again !

Situated off the most picturesque sheep-grazing field of buttercups you will ever see.In the picture postcard village of Hathersage . Scotman's Pack exudes easy warm British hospitality . My wonderful friends and I had seats next to a big window. The lamb (with homemade mushy peas and lovely fresh chips on the side) was possibly the best I have ever eaten and I have eaten in some 18 countries. Fantastic British food . Its amazing how underrated and undercelebrated British cuisine is ! And the local dark beer was creamy and delicious.I will fly ten hours again for a meal there . For i didnt have space for the apple crumble on that 9th June evening !!

We stayed here for one night on a cycling holiday and were looking forward to a good night's sleep. The room was fine - nothing outstanding but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and hot water was plentiful. The hotel is on a quiet side road next to the village school. On the night we stayed it was nice and quiet outside and we slept well. Breakfast was just okay. I probably wouldn't stay here again.

It took some time after going into the bar for the person serving in the bar to turn round and acknowledge he had some customers. If you like an affable welcome this is probably not for you. We will not be visiting here again until there has been a change of staff.
