My husband booked us a room for the weekend as a surprise birthday treat. The location is wonderful, the views are fantastic. We could not fault a thing with this hotel. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The room, although old fashioned, was clean and comfy and the views were stunning. Last, but not least the food was superb, possibly the best meal we have had for a good time. We will definitely return.

We visited the Monsal Head for a meal later on in the afternoon on New Years Eve. There were 10 of us and despite the staff getting ready for the evening, they made us feel very welcome - and our two dirty dogs too! We rested on sofas in the lounge until our meal was ready - and the food was just great! This place is definitely worth a visit!

My wife and our friends decided to spend our New Year in the Peak District and we saw that this hotel was offering a special New Year gala dinner with entertainment so we booked for the four of us. We booked into a B&B nearby and arrived at the hotel on New Years Eve eagerly awaiting an evening of good food and entertainment. The food was good and service was fine but after the meal we were ushered back into the silent lounge for coffee. It was then that everyone started asking about the entertainment and found that there was not any planned. By 11.15 most of the guests had left in disgust - what a terrible way to organise a New Years Eve party!

we stayed for two nights between christmas and new year, bedroom very dirty, bathroom very dirty, cobwebs all over the place, and the price we paid well i will not go there, but the food was very good
