Had very comfortable 2 night stay at this hotel recently. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Courtesy call 2 days before arrival to confirm reservation and to advise about restaurant bookings was much appreciated. Room overlooking the canal was clean, cosy and quiet. Good location for visiting the Peak District and would highly recommend.

Hotel staff very cheerful and friendly, room warm and comfortable (I stayed in January; a heater had been switched on in my room prior to arrival so the room was warm). Restaurant was very busy so I was glad the staff had telephoned me prior to arrival to advise booking. Would use this hotel again.

Overall this hotel is pretty good. Staff are particularly great, including those working in the restaurant next door. It is clean and the rooms are large and in a good state of repair. The only downside for me was the rooms took a long time to warm up, only a small heater in each room. What with the windows letting in a draught and the corridors seemingly unheated it is a battle to get your room warm.
