“Charming quiet old Famhouse in stunning setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2010

Arrived back from a couple of nights stay in this lovely farmhouse stopping in the double room with private bathroom.

Positives: Old-Worlde farmhouse which is tastefully decorated with lovely furnishings, and nice and clean. Not a sound to be heard during the night. Good breakfast with home-made produce. Plenty of parking available in the farm car-parking area. Well illuminated in the evening. Gill is a friendly landlady. This is one of the better Farm-Stay Uk's we have visited. I have found in the past that some Farm-Stay Uk' owners, think that because their accommodation is in the country, that this feature alone is enough to offer quality B&B, although the landlady in this case has clearly taken time to tastefully renovate the rooms.

Not so positive: Quite a way from the road, although the farm road is well maintained. Prefer a duvet, as I think they are more hygienic than blankets.

“Everythng a top class farmhouse B&B should be.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

My first visit = stayed 3 nights. The house is old but solid, well maintained and very comfortable. Breakfast provided a huge choice - plenty of fresh and cooked fruit with cereals and yogurt - plus of course the English traditional cooked breakfast. Gill was attentive when needed. I was attending the annual folk festival but also managed to do some delightful walks at nearby Biddestone. I hope to return before too long - and the Lodge would be my preferred accommodation.

“Everything we wanted from a farmhouse B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2009

We had a perfect stay at Pickwick, reserving and finding the place was easy, despite it's off-the-beaten-track location (Gill and Google Maps helped and it's still only a 20 min drive to Bath and other local attractions.)

The double room was spacious, we didn't have an en suite, but still had our own private bathroom right outside with a great shower. The farmhouse where the rooms, dining and living areas are is typically old and traditional and tastefully furnished, we were there in the summer, but I imagine it must be great in the winter with a fire and a mug of cocoa too!

The local area is great too. In 10 minutes you can walk to Corsham where there is a fantastic pub with very good food and they claim Dickens wrote the Pickwick Papers there (I forgot the name but Gill will tell you). Big benefit: you can walk to and from dinner and have a pint of local ale or two!

The delicious breakfast was cooked and served personally by Gill and all the guests sat around a big table in a lovely dining room. A great opportunity to meet and talk to people and Gill had plenty of time (between frying bacon) to chat and give advice on what to see and do locally.

All-in-all a great B&B and the price is excellent value too. (The next night we stayed in the New Forest, paid 20% more and had a room half the size in a place nowhere near as nice.)

I work in tourism marketing myself, so hope I know a little about B&Bs and customer service and I promised Gill I'd add a review here as I know how helpful it can be for genuinely good owners. I hope it helps a few that read it find this great B&B too... my only regret... we only had one night there... but I have a feeling we'll be back!
