Booked a room for two nights at a very discounted rate on LateRooms, and thought it was excellent value for money. We stayed in an 'executive double' in the new building, and the room (or rather, suite) was spacious, comfortable, and consisted of a large bedroom with sofa, small flatscreen TV, a side area with desk and cupboard, and a bathroom (shower only). Everything about the room was neat and clean (if not overly imaginative with decor). Our only slight complaint with the room was the green light which is kept on at all times - presumably as a security/fire emergency light; it was right over the bed and cast a horribly sickly green glow over us as we tried to sleep! Got a bit more used to it on the second night though.
The staff are young and very keen to help, and the older Hall is smart, if a bit dated (but I think there are plans to renovate this at any time). My boyfriend is a vegetarian and the veggie food choices are extremely limited - there's one dish on the dinner menu (dinner was overpriced, I think, and I would go elsewhere to eat if I stayed here again), and no veggie-specific dishes on the breakfast menu (unless you count a boiled egg!). Our risotto cakes for dinner were nicely presented but unexciting (and as I mentioned, overpriced at £15 for a bit of leftover risotto shaped into balls!), and there are a few surcharges on the menus to look out for. But service was impeccable.
Overall I think this is a very nice hotel for, perhaps, my parents to visit! And I would stay again/recommend it because it is good value for money (when discounted) and is close to many lovely places to visit if you are travelling by car. But I wouldn't dine at the restaurant in the evening, and might request a room without an emergency light over the bed!
