Dear joy g,

Thank you so much for coming to stay.
It was so nice to meet you both when you came to stay with us.
We really missed you when you left and Ruby kept coming along to visit you and seemed to pine for you when she couldn't find you.
We do hope that you will come again when you get dates sorted with the rest of the family .
I'm sure it will be a pleasure to meet the rest of the family . It will be nice if you can come when the weather is nice and the days are longer as there is so much to do that all the age groups in your family will enjoy, although I think you must be the youngest looking Grandma in England. (Wales?)
We have restocked the little gift shop with more home made soaps and Bath bombs, some new fragrances, Bradford on Avon cottage fudge, BOA T shirts and aprons, and even some crazy looking home made ironing board covers and Baby cravats, all animal themes of course.
Really looking forward to hearing from you.
Best Wishes.
Pauline .

“We loved our stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

From the moment we parked the car and found ourselves next to a friendly goat and three wandering hens, I knew we would love this place. We are both animal lovers, so it was a complete pleasure to be greeted by Ruby the dog, fuss the two cats and watch the ducks waddling around outside as we ate our breakfast.

The room was a lovely surprise. The photograph looked nice on the website, but we hadn't appreciated that it was away from the main house, which made it feel more private. There was a good selection of drinks and home made shortbread in the shape of Christmas trees, which was a lovely touch!

Pauline went out of her way to offer help with things to do locally. Bradford Upon Avon is a very pretty little place with some lovely places to eat, and ideal for getting the train into Bath. The breakfast was lovely and the portions were huge - you could tick a box for a 'larger appetite' and we were wondering how on earth they could get any bigger without falling off the plate! I particularly liked the offer of home made waffles with bacon and maple syrup.

What made this place special for me overall was a) the animals and b) the obvious care and thought that has gone into the rooms and the way everyone is greeted and looked after. Totally recommended. Thank you Pauline and Nigel.

Dear ShropshireSue,

Thank you for taking the time to write your kind comments on TA.
We enjoyed having you come to stay with us over the winter period and hope that you will come back next winter, and also visit us in the milder months when the weather is warmer and days are longer to enjoy our lovely area for more hours in the day.
Whilst Bradford on Avon and Bath is magical during the festive season it is also glorious n the spring and summer and with Westonbirt and Stourhead all within easy drives of here, Rhododendron and autumn leaves are both really special things to see, we never tire of this our selves and really hope that you can come to stay and enjoy these spectacular displays too.
Looking forward to welcoming you again to The beeches.
Kind regards.
Pauline.

“Wonderful experience”

We loved everything about this fab experience. We stayed in Cow Byre 1 and 2 which could become interconnecting. Our 6 year old adopted Jasper the goat and loved feeding him banana peels. The play area was great for kids, both inside and out.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the hosts, Nigel and Pauline made our stay memorable. They were readily available but not interfering in any way.
Free wi-fi was an unexpected bonus.
Can highly recommend it.

Dear CarolineAustin,

Thank you for coming to stay in our inter connecting Cow Byre cottages, which , sleeping up to 10 in four bedrooms with 2 kitchens and two sitting rooms are very popular with multi generation family groups,
We are pleased that our old goat Jasper was so pampered with attention and treats whilst you were here.
We hope that you can come back again and enjoy evenings at the cottages when the children can enjoy the outside play areas whilst the grown ups can relax on the patio with a BBQ and maybe a glass of wine.
Looking forward to your next stay with us at The Beeches.
And Thank you for taking the time for popping you lovely comments on to TA.
Kind Wishes.
Pauline.

“Simply lovely!”

We stayed at this beautiful b&b at the weekend and it was lovely! A warm welcome from the owners (including the friendly yet placid red setters!) despite our late arrival and a real treat to be shown to such an imaginative room (converted barn). It was really refreshing to have a fruit basket in addition to the usual complimentary drinks & biscuits tray; the room was cosy, warm, comfortable, exceptionally clean...lashings of hot water for the lovely deep bath too...all made for a great stay! Breakfast was relaxed and friendly, fresh fruit, cereals, limitless toast, muffins, crumpets etc and a really good full English. The dogs joined us for a while too but again were very friendly, not at all in the way, just part of this lovely family! We will be back, thank you Pauline & Nigel.

“Family friendly stay at Cow Byre 2”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We stayed at the Cow Byre 2 self-catering cottage. It was a very comfortable cottage for a family of four, in a delightful setting, with a good games room and some animals for the children. It is not a working farm. It seems to be surrounded by arable rather than pastoral farms, so we weren't besieged by the smells that can be associated with pastoral farms. On other rural stays the nausea from animal odours has made it impossible for me to enjoy food or especially wine.

The games room is wonderful for the kids, with ping pong, pool, table football, badminton, football, volleyball, and numerous board games. There is an outdoor area outside the games room where adults can relax.

The 'adult room' is in the loft of the cottage, and this has the potential to be very hot. We stayed in August, but we were lucky to have very mild weather, and we were comfortable. If you had real summer weather, the upstairs room could be stifling. An air cooler was provided, which could conceivably have helped, but in the past I have not found air coolers to be useful in very uncomfortable conditions.

The area does not have a lot of light pollution, and so you can have an amazing view of the night sky. We had two nights of fabulous star views.

There are many places to visit within a short drive,e.g. Longleat, Bath, Lacock. Lacock is fabulous for Harry Potter fans. It also has good places to eat. Longleat is expensive but has a lot to offer. If you buy using your Tesco vouchers it isn't so hard on the pocket.

Bradford-on-Avon itself is a pretty little town that apparently has several good places to eat (we didn't eat there). It is a short walk for adults but a bit tiring for children. There is a barbed wire gate that poses some challenges for young children (my youngest daughter was snared on it).

It is convenient for Bath, only a short rail journey away (20 mins by memory?).

The proprietors are friendly and they provide some excellent goodies for your arrival (yummy fudge, local clotted cream and cookies etc).

I would go back and would encourage others to stay here.

Dear IHumprey,

Thank you for taking the time to write such an in depth review which I am sure will be very helpful to other guests looking to come to visit our area.
We are pleased that you explored the area so thoroughly and made the best of your time in the local area.
At the Beeches we don't have any gates with wire on it and wonder if it is on the way to Bradford on Avon. Th e field between us and BOA is occasionally used for holding sheep so wire on gates maybe needed during that time.

Guest who have stayed during hot weather have found the air coolers efficient .
We do hope that you will come to stay again as there is still much to do, you could try looking on www.vistwiltshire.co.uk for ideas on their great days out guide and like wise www.visitbath.co.uk

Thank you for coming to stay with us and look forward to welcoming you again at the Beeches and Pig Wig Cottages.
Kind Regards
Pauline.
