On the plus side, the main house is lovely, the room was large, quiet during the night (but see below) - we heard an owl hooting one night - and Debbie (?) our waitress had the nicest smile ever. Bathroom - very small and shower had water-saving head so poor experience.
There is a heated swimming pool - BUT, we were not warned about the swimming lessons beforehand. They need to put the times on their website so you know which days/times to avoid for a quiet swim. On going to the pool Friday afternoon, we found lessons going on for local children from 3.30 - 6 - so no pleasant swim there. Next morning, it was OK, but there is NO room for more than 3 adults at a time swimming lengths - no idea what happens if 4 adults want to swim!! Changing rooms tiny but they provided fires and free towels , so not too bad.
Our room (5) was over one lounge and close to the stairs leading to the other. First night - a stag party of men sat shouting and laughing until 7pm. We asked about moving room but, in the end, they went out and so it was quiet. But if you like to be quiet before dinner, pick a room away from this area.
Dining room - breakfast very good (freshly made coffee was excellent), but dinner not a great choice and my main course of a large pork chop and stewed root veg was well below par. Try one of the local restaurants/pubs instead as Bradford on Avon has a great choice!
Area - outstanding. We spent all day walking around Bradford on Avon and had a fabulous day out, so the hotel is very convenient although a little pricey as a place to stay.
