“Lovely location poor hotel”

I stayed at the Bath Arms for 2 nights as a treat for my 10 year old daughter. The room looked nothing like the website and we arrived at 4pm wet and cold wanting to check in and we had to wait for an hour before our room was ready. The eating area near the bar had a large TV and we were subjected to East Enders!!

We are obviously disappointed that this reviewer did not enjoy their visit to The Bath Arms, but we can assure them that in the 11 months since they stayed many important improvements have been made at the hotel and we hope we may be able to tempt them back to try us again.

“An excellent short stay”

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Bath Arms in Horningsham. The managers, Peter and Jamie should be commended for maintaining a team of well trained and motivated staff - always smiling with a can do attitude. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. We awoke in the morning to the sound of wolves howling from the nearby Longleat safari park! The public rooms are a great place to relax with a mixture of clintele that adds up to a fantastic environment to relax and have a good time - just the job. I am sure we will visit again and recommend that others do the same. Excellent value for money - you will not be dissapointed.

Room Tip: They are all good and vary in price. They do have some excellent 'quirky' rooms for the mor...

“location, location, location (not service)”

We stayed 2 nights and were very pleased with the hotel's wonderful setting, nice bar area and good food. Unfortunately they were clearly under-staffed and the staff working seemed inexperienced and as a result flustered. Our booking for dinner (on our wedding anniversary) was not processed and we had to eat in the bar instead. The staff were eventually apologetic and after prompting offered a complementary bottle of wine (too little too late). We wound't rule out returning as the local area is lovely and the pub/hotel has lots of character, however, they need twice as many staff to provide a good level of service and the staff working should be more experienced.

“Mixed feelings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

The room we stayed in was nicely decorated and clean. But the bed was really hard, we woke up a view times at night, that's how uncomfortable it was. Plus u can hear the noises from other rooms which makes it even worse.
The dinner at the hotel was really beautiful and the staff were extremely helpfull. Excellent service there.
Breakfast on the other hand was a disgrace, nothing compared to food we had the evening before. Everything was overdone, the bacon looked like it was cooked for an hour before beeing brought to the table, it was so hard, there wasnt a chance of having a bite. The egg shrank as well. The porridge we ordered for our toddler looked like a soup not porridge. I really dont understand how a professional chef can send out food looking like that!!!

I think its not worth staying there unless amendments are made, but definitely its worth coming over for an evening meal. Special thank you to the restaurant staff-great job!!!

“visitor stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I stayed at this hotel for 4 days after a previous stay in 2010. I found the food good and the staff and service excelllent. The staff were without exception friendly and helpful. I would have no hesitation in either recommending a stay to others or staying here again.
