“Food Very Undesirable”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Went on saturday evening with my partner,On arrival shown straight away to our table as only ourselves and one other couple who were there! Atmosphere was lifeless and place was cold. Ordered our starter which was garlic bread and dip came out something my gran would serve me on a doily in a bowl no garnish with it presentation left alot to be desired. The starter was average nothing to blow your imagination, So looking forward to my steak as i had one here before and it was melt in your mouth, well!! my steak arrived i was gutted it was small and accompanied with 3 chicken wings!!!! Now at £16.95 i assumed my steak would come with at least a tomato are bit of mushroom or even few tobacco onions!! Nothing just small12oz steak and 3 chicken wings!! Steak also was undercooked asked for medium and got rare!! Complain to the waitress to inform the chef about my steak and im still waiting on a reply! Was very dissapointed with the york and not the same anymore! so will not be rushing back there again!

“A bit more care would make all the difference and avoid room 3”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Stayed for one night with my wife (usually travelling solo on business) for a family event. Was allocated room 3 which is nice enough but the bed is far too soft and low for my liking.
I had made the mistake of assuming that the 4* rating was given as hotel status and made certain assumptions as to what facilities would be available. On arriving back at about 11.00 pm was told by the barman that there was no food available when we asked for sandwiches. To be fair to him he did find some "pre made" food which was quite ok and his approach to the situation was friendly and well mannered.
At about 7.15 am we were woken as the kitchen switched on for the day with a VERY noisy extractor fan outside our window. We were quite unable to get back to sleep as it generated a whine for about the first hour of operation as though there was a defective bearing that needed time to warm up. We booked the room weeks in advance so did not feel that we should have been given a room with such an obvious problem. We also felt that it would have been copurteous of managment to warn us of this sleep threatening issue. When checking out we were asked was everything ok. I responded that the noise from the kitchen has woken us far too early - the response "oh yes that will be £95.50 please"!. Not very helpful!
Final point was the bacon at breakfast. I passed on the full fry and took bacon and smoked salmon. The white slime that comes from cheap bacon during cooking was all over my food and it went back virtually uneaten. This attracted no comment from waiting staff. I would, however, have to say that that all restaurant staff were very friendly and welcoming. Address these few problems and you will be a very satisfactory establishment - sorry The York but I say it as I see it!

Room Tip: I would suggest that you make management know that you area aware of the noise of the kitchen fan an...

“Excellent value and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

Would happily recommend this hotel to anyone.

All rooms and public spaces are modern, clean and spacious. Service and food could also not be faulted - you wont leave hungry!

Has a great sea view from breakfast/coffee area and some of the rooms.

Room Tip: 1 & 2 for sure have sea views and in 4 we could see the sea out of the side window. (There are o...

“"Northern Irelands' Expression of Hospitality & Beauty..."”

"Being born in York, PA & being on Our 1rst Irish Adventure...knowing that touching the tip of the Isle of Ireland was to happen...booked into the York Inn on October 27th, 2011 for a 2 night stay. What a Wonderful Place, beautifully executed, clean, close to the Ocean and The Giants Causeway. There is a golf course literally right across the main road which sits right beside the Ocean, spectacular views all around! The restaurant served delicious complimentary breakfasts and the dinners were delectable as well. Would come back to stay again.
