“Corporate Hotel that is Family Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Just returned from a week end visiting the grand children and stayed at the most convenient hotel which was the Hilton. Haven't stayed in a Hilton for some time as we prefer the smaller hotel rather than the corporate type.....however this one is certainly better than most. Reception was fast, efficient and very friendly. Asked about our family using the spa on the following day and we were very happy to be told ...no problem, most welcome and the children loved it. Room had a nice touch in introducing us by note to our room service lady, who when tested by us in asking for three little extras, very promptly met our wishes when the room was cleaned the next day. Each evening requested milk at the bar for our tea and bedtime drinks and were served it at no cost. Breakfast staff, friendly and efficient and the choice at breakfast was excellent. Ladywife didn't like the porridge..... lumpy and made with water not milk....UggHH! Asked the waitress to tell the chef!! Lastly my perennial complaint. with nearly all hotels...PIPED MUZAK. I loath it and especially when on a Sunday morning I am treated to Hip Hop Rap (or whatever it is called). Who listens to this junk? Especially in the morning?

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade....out of season. Lovely view of the golf course....next time I'm bringing my...

“4 star lovely relaxing break. Giving mostly 4 stars in rating as its an ample 4 star in my opinion.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed for 2 nights in jan. the dinning room
Staff were really lively and friendly. The chef who I think was eastern European was also very friendly and helpful. The rest of the hotel is lovely it's 4 star and for the money I think it was very good value. The facilities are all there loved the pool and steam room. We checked out and then were allowed to use the pool after 12 which extended ate break that bit longer. We ate half board the food was ample breakfast was gorgeous and the chowder starter was my fav starter. The bar snack upstairs were very reasonable only £5. Nice and quiet and peaceful break with everything we wanted for our stay. Going back in feb.

“Welcome or Not?.....”

A friend of mine recommended the Hilton as they allow non residents to go to the spa facilities and children were very welcome. Called in advance and spoke to a lovely man who said that the kids would be £5 each and adults £10. Fair enough, thats a reasonable price. We didnt make it at Halloween so decided when the kids were off school to go up before they returned from their Christmas holidays. Again I called in advance to make sure everything was ok...no changes in New Year - kids still welcome etc.
Again the staff were fantastic on the phone, not a problem!
Upon arrival for what I thought was going to be a great day, spa, lunch, etc... the very nice manager informed me that its not usual for non residents to use the facilities and if we did on a regular basis we would have to become members of their gym. (????)
Wondering where this had 'come from' I said we had phoned twice, never been told this and why tell us this when we had driven 30 miles to get there!!!
He explained that if they were open to the public then they would be regarded as more of a leisure center and not a private gym, fair enough,....... I suppose.
It states on the Hiltons web site that they are open to non residents.
Perhaps someone should decide if they are - or not.!!!!!!!!!
The facilities were spotless all the staff, pleasant, friendly, and approchable.
The manager said as it was our 'first' time he would not charge for the kids, which was very nice of him to do.
In the next breath he said we needed to think about becoming members.....and told me all the different tariffs. I asked for some literature, but none was available.

It was a nice facility to take the kids, they LOVED it, sauna and steam room were great, pool was at just the right temperature.
I do not know if we would ever bother to go back there, I honestly don't know if we would be entirely welcome as non - residents, or non gym members....thats a bit of a grey area I'd say!!!!

Didnt stay for lunch as I was a bit annoyed, the more I thought of calling in advance twice, and all being Ok, then inferring they had done me a favour, as in, letting my family in!!!!
we decided to go somewhere else to eat.

Location : Fantastic
Service: Definite grey area!!!!
Cleanliness: Very Good
Facilities: First Class

Room Tip: Not a jacazzi as stated in web site, it is a whirlpool part of the swimming pool. Still great thoug...

“Very pleasant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Stayed over the Christmas period while visiting family in the area. We were very happy with the room and the breakfast buffet was great. Very nice pool and gym. Staff were friendly and helpful. We did not eat in the restaurant apart from breakfast so can't comment on the quality of the food, but we did order bar snacks on one evening and these were disappointing.
Would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay again.

“"One night stay - bed really bad!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

For christmas headed to this country club for a one night stay to relax after a really busy christmas and new year. Firstly when we arrived we stood at the front desk for 10minutes with no one around. If the room wasnt already prebooked I would have walked. I had to ring the hotel while standing there so that someone would come to the front desk. Not a good start. Payed extra for the deluxe room and was to be honest slightly disappointed. Don't get me wrong the room size was fine and the view onto the glof course was nice. However the bed was terrible. For a deluxe I was so annoyed! You sat on it and it seemed to scream - You couldnt move without it making some sort of noise. And the worst part was the fact that it had no head board so there was a gap between the wall and my pillow. I found myself during the night waking due to fact that my head was falling down the gap as it kept swallowing my pillow.
To be honest for that amount of stars on a hotel very disappointed.
Maybe the standard rooms are fine I dont know - but if I ever need to return I will not be upgrading

Room Tip: Dont pay for the extra Deluxe room - too be honest its not worth it
