“v friendly staff, 1 unwelcoming person (assuming she is the owner)”

i did not stay, but i ate here the other weekend. i saw two or three different waitresses who were very friendly, helpful and seemed under control. food was delicious and the chicken i recieved was tender and cooked to perfection. the only let down i felt about this resturant was the unwelcoming woman that i assume is the boss. we were very unfairly rushed through our meal, even though we had booked in advance. overall, lovely food, nice staff but some minor set backs.

“Will not stay in this hotel again”

The Hotel is ok which is near to the bus & train sations.
The hotel has a small parking on site, which is free of charge & you did not need to reserve it.
Very friendly management and staff, very helpful.
Accommodation ok but a bit of a climb to the top (third) floor, where older bedroom made into an ensuite.
The room was also very cold & very noisy with ouside traffic.
However this hotel is not suitable for the disabled as there is no lift to the rooms.

“Never go back!”

There aren't many places to eat in Carmarthen, and we chose the Boars Head in Carmarthen for our club Christmas meal because it seemed like a large, nicely decorated place to eat. We thought that £20 per head was a bit steep, but figured that it was worth paying for good food.

Sadly, the night was a thorough disappointment.

The staff (owners I assume, the bar staff were fine) were incredibly rude and unwelcoming. For instance, we arrived half an hour early and were ordering drinks at the bar - but were rushed through to the table and hurried along as if we had been half an hour late. They demanded extra payment for a subsidy for duck we hadn't been told about, the food itself was mediocre at best and although often nicely presented, was left largely unfinished. Particularly the 'christmas pudding'.

We were very surprised to be ordered (and I use that word deliberately) to go and get our mains from a buffet, where we were presented with one lonely roast potato and overcooked sausage, bacon and stuffing.

The waitresses were sent to ask us if we had finished when it was patently obvious that people were still eating; they also started clearing the table into plastic bags while we were drinking our coffee.

The place itself was beautifully decorated and the seats were comfortable. The beer was also good! We could even have overlooked the less than brilliant food, but I have never been made to feel more unwelcome in my life and will never, ever go back!!

“Best avoided!!”

The most unwelcoming place I have ever visited mostly due to the terrible attitude of the landlord and his wife. They are clearly not cut out to run a business and would benefit from a course in customer care! Would not recommend to anyone!!!!

“One of the worst meals I've ever had”

I didn't stay here but ate in the restaurant as there are few places open in the evening in Carmarthen. The service was sulky and generally unhelpful. The food was revolting. The 'creamy' sauce on the pasta had separated and it was completely tasteless. I left half of it, despite paying nearly £10 for a fairly basic plate of pasta.
