“Warm welcome, comfortable surroundings.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in January. An excellent welcome with plenty of information about the hotel.

Room was very comfortable, enormous soft comfortable bed with plenty of extras such as hairdryer, iron with ironing board. Large tv and tea & coffee topped up every day.

Bathroom had shower, toilet and contemporary sink with usual free toiletries.

We had a room in the new block overlooking the canal. The only thing we could pick fault with was the very creaky floors and double glazing on the french doors would be an advantage as you can hear every conversation on the tow path. Having said that we were completely satisfied.

The breakfast every morning was excellent with a good choice of cereals, fruit juices and a choice of continental or full yorkshire cooked breakfast. The staff were very attentive and were constantly asking if we wanted top-ups.

To sum it up we had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend this hotel.

“Herriots Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This was the fourth time we have visited Herriots and were not disappointed. It is a family hotel and the care for visitors is first class. We'll be back next year and wouldn't choose anywhere else in Skipton. Well recommended. Vegetarian breakfast on order.

Room Tip: Canal-side rooms are lovely but a bit noisier than the main hotel rooms that we have used before.

“Very friendly atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Stayed for two nights over the new year. This was our third visit to Her riots.
Strengths are the staff who create a very pleasant atmosphere and are very accommodating.
Weaknesses are the room fitments. We travelled with 3 other couples and all of us had some issue with our rooms.
Still a very pleasant stay and will visit again.

“Comfortable anniversary stay at Herriots”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We decided to stay in Skipton for our anniversary, so that we could do some exploring. We booked in at Herriots and took a canal-side deluxe room on the top floor, overlooking the canal. The room was very nice, with a great-sized bed and jacuzzi bath. We could watch the canal boats directly below our window, interleaved with geese and swans - very relaxing. The room itself was quite newly decorated and fitted, with a large bathroom, tea and coffee, etc. It was extremely comfortable. The only negative was the floor - it creaked with every footstep! I can only imagine what it would be like on the floor below us. The person staying next door to us was up, pacing, most of the night and you could hear floorboards creak nonstop.

Breakfast the next morning was very good - freshly prepared everything. Nothing fancy, but well done. We didn't take dinner at the hotel, but in one of the numerous restaurants in town.

Skipton itself is small but with lots of little things to see. We enjoyed walking around the town, had a canal boat ride, and just explored.

When it was time to leave, we just nipped across the road to the rail station -- perfectly placed.

Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful; it felt like a family run place.

I think we'd go back, but we'd need to think carefully about the canal-view rooms. Those floorboards... :-)

“4 single rooms for 15 December”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

My wife found Herriots Hotel after i asked her to book me 4 rooms for 4 guys for a business trip - we were going to the Copper Dragon Brewery for a tour! She booked the hotel with ease - other hotels in Skipton were not accommodating seeing as though it was so near to Christmas and they wanted Xmas parties booked in.

Upon arrival we were actually surprised at how large the car park was - so ample parking. The entrance to the hotel was very inviting, as was the bar and restaurant entrance on the front.

The receptionist was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

We all had rooms in the original part of the hotel and mine (no. 6) was to the front overlooking the road and railway station - not that that was a problem as i did not intend to spend any time in the room and when I did, I didn't hear any noise from outside.

The room was nicely decorated and aired. The bathroom had a shower and was very modern. The bed was a double and was very comfortable. There was a wardrobe and a set of drawers. A round table with a chair was also provided which did make the room seem a little cramped.

The bar area was comfortable and the bar staff were very attentive. The drinks were priced as other hotels - £3.40 for a pint of Copper Dragon - but it tasted lovely.

We had breakfast the following morning and the portion sizes were big! The food was hot, there was plenty of Tea and Toast and again the staff were very attentive without being overbearing.

Checkout was quick and easy.

Final word. For £65.00 for B&B just before Christmas i could not fault the hotel!

Room Tip: Rooms to the front of the hotel could suffer from road noise. Rooms to the rear could suffer from di...
