“Had a really good stay at this hotel when...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

Had a really good stay at this hotel when travelling further down south.

Rooms were clean and tidy, hotel was ideally located off the A1 for a overnight stop off. There was no food in the hotel in the evening there was an indian restaurant over the car park, which was very busy, we did not visit this and drove into a nearby village for takeaway.

The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful and the bar/breakfast room was clean and tidy. The
Pint in the bar was good and the continental breakfast was just what was needed to set you up for the journey.

Overall a really good and handy place to stay.

“Value for money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

Good value for money, great for over night stay.We were visiting family who lived a few miles away, did not visit Spicelands next door but people we were visiting said they had been there a number of times and had found it to be very good. At Redwings we found the staff to be friendly and rooms clean. Breakfast is £3.50 weekdays and free weekends!! all though it is a help yourself job it was more than ample for us with oj,selection of cereals, toast and spreads, tea and coffee. Bar prices seemed reasonable and selection of toiletries ect. available at reception. Down side, bed only dble and used to kingsize and room on small size also hairdryer would be better placed by a mirror!! but apart from this good stay and will stay again next time in area

“Worst of my life”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2010

All I can say is, do not stay here if there is a viable alternative. Shabby hotel, shabby rooms, staff that don't care, all under-weaved with a lack of investment and it would appear a 'no can do attitude'.
We only stopped here as a last resort as we found ourselves in the middle of nowhere at 10pm at night in the middle of a long road trip. How I wish I had slept on the back seat of the car!

“It's a good basic place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2009

It's a notch up from the Travelodges, though very similar. It's basic and budget, but our room had a HUGE flatscreen TV. My son really liked that a lot. The entire room was very clean and smartly decorated. The lady at reception, Julia was such a wonderful help to us. Breakfast was basic, but you could eat all that you wanted of it.

I'd definately stay again. Never once felt our safety was compromised. Some of these reviews are just off the wall.

“Very good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2009

stayed here for 3 nights as a base for trips to Cambridge and Peterborough - it was virtually the cheapest I could find and was a bit worried about some of the older reviews but I needn't have worried. We didn't arrive til nearly midnight, later than expected, and in torrential rain. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room. Great hot showers and a nice, larger than average double bed. Breakfasts are £3.50 - but free on weekends - nothing to write home about, but it fills a hole! The only downside I agree with is that it is quite isolated - there are no pubs within walking distance and the 24 hour bar is the same room as the breakfast room - we did not sample it, despite being keen tipplers - as it looked to have no atmosphere. The Indian restaurant next door, however, was good value for money and you can take your own drinks with no corkage charge.
