“High unused potential”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011 via mobile

Isolated and unique location, friendly staff, very nice cottages in the national park. Damaged reef in front of the hotel, with free snorkling and canoeing equipment from the hotel. Travellers should realise that the resort is located in the national park, including its inhabitants like monkeys, deer and wild pigs and far away from a nearby village. The food and service in the restaurant was not in line with the price. All in all, it seems like there is a lot of unused potential in this resort.

“This is what we needed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

After a long trip from Jakarta and the busy environment in Java, we finally found a beautiful place to rest and enjoy the nature. Snorkeling, laying on the beach, trekking through the mangrove forest and plenty of animals for your entertainment. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Next time we visit Bali we will stay for a longer period.

“a must go”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

This place is amazing, just check out the foto's online. It is really like that. The staff is friendly but not very enthousiastic (they should train them better). But who cares, look where you are!!

“Great location for a break but a little too rustic”

Stayed here with friends, loved the 'cabins' but I think a few dollars need to be spent for this to actually be defined as a resort. Most things are a little run down, perhaps it is designed to be 'shabby chic'. Little too much shabby not enough chic methinks.

The staff are all very sweet but additional training is required, especially when it comes to the spa, where the prices are high and the quality very low.

Food (dinner) was very lovely.

The bets part was seeing the in house piggy family racing about and of course spending quality time with my partner and friends.

Oh yes, it is rather nice to be able to snorkel straight off the beach in front of the Resort - albeit a fairly rocky beach.

NB: Wireless only really works while perched on the bar stools - I wonder if this is deliberate to keep the booze flowing.

“Don`t go unless you love camping”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2011

The resort is immersed in nature, which could be a good thing if done properly. However, the walkways from the restaurant/beach to the rooms are made of concrete and there is no landscaping whatsoever. Everything is pretty run down, the rooms feel old and have stained, scratched sinks/toilets. Apart from the rooms there is very little public space: a tiny restaurant (quite charming, at the water`s edge), a really depressing, small swimming pool, and the beach. The beach gets very very narrow at high tide, and it is impossible to swim from it (water is too shallow and full of sharp coral). One can go snorkeling from the jetty, which can be fun. Be prepared to live as if you were camping: the service is almost non-existent (in several occasions we could not find ANYBODY to ask about scuba diving, and when we finally located the right scuba person he told us we should have booked a day in advance). Often, at the restaurant and elsewhere, you are temped to just go and do it yourself. You might want to bring your own food: on our first day, the resort was out of fruit (any fruit), out of bacon, ham or sausages. On the second day, they were out of tomatoes, squid, and chicken. On the third day, they were out of potatoes and milk! This makes it very difficult to order your meals. And when the food does come, it is bland at best. If you do bring your own food, be careful where you put it: we found a rat in the room going through our supply of rice crackers. If this is the kind of nature you like, you`ll find plenty of it, including lots of bugs which pestered us (especially our daughter, who still has about a hundred bites on her body—I am not exaggerating).
If you must go to this place because you like the idea of the natural park, make sure you do not pay the full rate, which is incredibly overpriced for what you get. In fact, there are much better options (nicer, more spacious, swimmable beaches, better food, lower price) on the mainland in front of menjangan island, which will still allow you to go snorkeling or diving in the park—it`s just a 20 minute boat ride.
