“good value for your money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

motel style rooms at the rear of the bar areas, very clean rooms nicely furnished, breakfast was very good if a little limited, cerials, one jug of juice followed by a very good full english, did not see any options for none fry up visitors.I was on a lower room and the one night out of 3 that the room above was occupied I could hear every movement (and I mean every movement) that was made, requesting a first floor room would be recomended. the car park outside the rooms was a little busy and cigarette ends left all over the floors. finding someone to talk to was a problem when i arrived i had to go into the kitchens after 30mins to get them to find the girl in reception who when found made no effort to appologize for the delay. thyis also happened at breakfast. but overall given the choices in the area i would recomend this hotel.

Room Tip: get a first floor room

“A Mixed Bag!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

Stayed at the Belfry last Easter. The price is very reasonable and the food in the pub is good but the rooms out the back are very tired. Although the bathroom and the bedding was clean there were marks on wall and even a hole where the door handle banged the wall! The decor was tired as was the outside - wobbly stair rails and rotting wood. On the Saturday night we were surprised by three or four young people laid on the car park outside out window in the early hours!! Wouldn't stay there again.

“nice room reasonably priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

Stayed with bed and breakfast board. Room had lovely furniture in it and was comfortable, tea/coffee making facilities were included, the bed however had a spring which kept me awake and the lights directly outside each window were not motion sensored and therefore stayed on all night making it harder to get to sleep. Bathroom was fine with shampoo and soap available. Wi-fi is available in the bar area but not all rooms get it therefore it is better to ring up beforehand to request a room with it if needed. The beakfast was full English but with other things to choose from. The hotel is a pub, but it closes at 11 and the rooms are situated in a seperate building therefore there wasn't any noise. Nice pub that served food and had a pool table. A short drive from the forest of dean and Cinderford.

“Cheap and cheerful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2011

This is a pub with accommodation in the car park, not really a hotel and also backs onto an estate where kids are running around at all hours. But rooms are nice with a tea and coffee tray available, bathroom was ok-powerful shower but small and needed a repaint. Pub grub was big portions and cheap but staff are less than interested! Room was ok as a base but not ideal on the ground floor as you can hear every sound from above, we would have liked to of been closer to the forest for less driving. Breakfast was cereal, toast and full English but not great so we opted for eggs and toast. Also we found a lot of local pubs (even those in leaflets) were now closed or boarded up, so ring ahead.

Room Tip: Short, cheap stay ideal

“Exceptional Value For Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

At £65 b&b for a triple room on a Saturday night this really was exceptional value for money. The motel style room was clean and adequately sized. The carpet, furniture and bathroom suite all seemed to be quite newish. The beds were comfortable, although there was some late night noise from local youths who were skateboarding which light sleepers might find disturbing.

The service was prompt and friendly checking-in, ordering food and checking-out. Breakfast was enjoyable with a choice of cereals, yogurts and cooked selection (including full English). Food in the evening was standard pub fare and portions were gigantic. There was some very good live entertainment on in the bar although this could not be heard from the room.

Good children's play area outside and children are generally made to feel very welcome. High chairs are available in the restaurant and there are baby change facilities.

Easy access to all Forest of Dean attractions.
