I travelled with a friend and we had a decent enough time, although the accommodation was not one of the highlights. Avoriaz is a very picturesque little place but these apartments are some of the most basic you'll find.
On the plus side it is very centrally located for shops, supermarket, bars and getting to the lifts. It was also clean and warm, which given it averaged -10 during our stay was most welcome.
On the negative side the sofa-come-beds (not sofa beds in the conventional sense) were not very comfortable, the "kitchenette" very cramped and space pretty tight overall. We had a studio without a balcony, which was probably the cheapest option. Reception was also very slow checking us in, with all the usual pleasantries you come to expect, being as absent as in most French hotels.
Take some ear plugs with you if you want a decent night's sleep because you'll be kept awake by neighbours or revellers making their way home outside well into the early hours.
Also take a towel because they're not included and I think it was EUR20 if you wanted to "borrow" one.
Overall, it did the job, but I wouldn't stay again unless I was after a real bargain and this place was offering a serious deal!
