Was visiting Lyon for only 1 day and so I didn't want to pay too much on a hotel that I will not be spending too much time in. Booked the Novotel Lyon Nord Porte de Lyon from the novotel.com website. The hotel was only 15 minutes driving distance from city center and the price was reasonable. Got a free gift for my 2-year-old during check-in, which was nice. The room layout looked just like any other Novotel that I have stayed at, so no surprises there, although it was not the cleanest one that I have stayed at (not the filthiest one either). The shower curtain had orange/brown stain at the bottom and there was mildew on the shower wall. The carpet in the room could use more vacuuming as well. I suspect there are better quality hotels outside of the city center, so I will try something else next time.

At the reception as well as at the restaurant all personel were very much effective and gentle with me and all other guests. Check out was very quick and precise, but I would suggest printing and showing the invoice before asking for payment.

We stay at a lot of Novotels, the Dardilly experience proved good, Lyon is a destination point for us for business and a thro route to the south so we often need to stay in the area and do find the hotels with parking expensive and difficult to access.Dardilly is very easy to find has a lovely garden with tables to sit out round the pool, nice staff, usual rooms for a novotel and usual menu, we found it quiet and easy the following morning to continue the journey south.
