1. The first night I arrived, I woke up freezing in the middle of the night because the heat was not working in the room (room A). The temperature outside was below freezing.
2. I asked the next morning if they could please fix it or move me to another room, and fix the mini-fridge because that was not working. I was told this would happen.
3. I arrived that evening, after dinner, only to find that the heat had not been fixed. They moved me to a room that the bathroom was under construction (room B), it smelled of mildew and I soon realized why- there was no shower curtain or way to block the water from exiting the shower, so it just went all over the countertop and the floor. There was plywood covering the back of the sink. Luckily the heat did work.
4. That second morning, I was told that they would get the heat fixed and move me from the 'under construction' room to the room I was previously in. When I arrived back that evening, I was told that the heat was fixed and given the key to the room I was in previously (Room A). There was already someone else in the room. They had given me a working key to a room they had put someone else in- not very secure or competent in my opinion.
5. They then moved me to another room (room C), where the heat also did not work. The lady from the front desk couldn’t get it to work either.
6. Then they moved me to another room where it did actually work (room D). The guy at the desk did apologize, but then told me that if there is one problem with a guest, they always have multiple problems with the same guest. In effect, telling me that this must be my fault, not the fault of the hotel.
7. This was a downgrade from my original room, and not the same room type the rate was for. It had no kitchenette- only a fridge.
8. I realized the next morning that the security box wasn’t working in the latest room. If they are going to just give keys to occupied rooms to other people, then I think it is important to lock up anything that is at all valuable. They did actually fix the security box that day.
9. Two people at the front desk have refused to write down my Choice “privileges” member reward number, being very condescending and telling me that it must be my password or online login but it is not the correct number. After calling the Choice hotels member line, I know this is a valid member number, but they still refused to take it. As for sending their HQ a comment, as it has to be done online, there is not enough room in their online comments form to enter this saga, so TripAdvisor it is.....
