“Distinctly average hotel. The publicity pictures are misleading.”
This hotel is average; it's difficult to think of anything more to say. It's clear and quite comfortable, but not spacious, not attractive in any way and it can't be recommended for anything other than an overnight stop, which is exactly why we stayed here. In fact, I think the price is a little on the high side for what you get.
Many French hotels have small rooms - it seems to be almost normal in France - and this is no exception. There is little storage space and the bathroom, although decently clean and functional, is quite cramped.
The publicity pictures for the hotel paint it in a very favourable light with flowers abounding all around. In fact its location is quite the opposite. It's in the middle of a commercial area, right next to another chain hotel, a McDonalds and various other businesses. The whole "garden" area needs serious attention.
It was mercifully under-occupied for the one night we stayed there which probably helped to keep the noise levels down. The double-glazed window is quite effective at eliminating noise from outside when it's closed.
On a positive note, the bed was large and comfortable, breakfast very good, and the aircon in the room was effective, which was a bonus given the warm weather and the fact that, as I mentioned, we had to keep the window closed.
The reception staff were very friendly and spoke English. The first room they offered us was a smoking room and it smelled quite bad. We asked instead for a non-smoking room, and they were quite happy to oblige.
There was some refurbishment work going on to the reception area during our stay. This really needs to be extended to the whole hotel.
