Even if one has to go into Luxembourg-city occasionally, it is a better choice to stay out of town, either in Mondorf-les-Bains or Ehnen. Mondorf being a traditional Spa and Hotel Grand-Chef a bit old, but comfortable with pleasant staff. Located in a quiet area near parks, good cuisine, safe parking. Older rooms renovated and spacious, nice view. Only thing which really bugged me was their awful muzak, i.e. Occhi chornia with dinner. All the worse as the hotel is member of "Relais du Silence" group.
Hotel Bamberg in Ehnen has fabulous views on Moselle river and vinyards. Some traffic noise, trains and boats, but not too bad. A small, very personal familyhotel, run by the friendly owner-couple. Mr Bamberg is an excellent cook, all produce totally fresh. Spacious doubleroom with huge bath for a reasonable rate. Filled with antiques, immaculately clean. Breakfast is served by Mr Bamberg, attention given to personal wishes.
I only wish they would modernize their bedding from sheets with blankets to the modern type of quiltcover. Synthetic quilts would even be better than down, especially for those with allergies, as well as synthetic pillows.
A great plus for me is the absence of wifi, internet and mobile phones. It adds to the tranquillity of the Bamberg.
