I recently stayed at this hotel in Luxembourg. I was on a business trip and had actually planned to stay at the Hilton instead, but that hotel was sold out from under me because I had missed a connecting flight.

This hotel is sort of a cross between a "bed and breakfast" and a regular hotel.

The good:
1. Cozy atmosphere
2. Nice breakfast
3. Good price
4. Free wireless internet (lobby only)
5. Small feel (as opposed to large business hotels that are more impersonal)
6. Comfortable bed
7. Clean

The not-so-good:
1. Small guest room
2. Loud (my room was facing the main street...someone was honking their horn right out in front early in the morning...not good)
3. No stand up shower
4. Lukewarm water (for bath)...not warm enough!
5. Creaky floors
6. No internet in the guest rooms (see above)
7. Quirky service (can't think of a better word)
8. Location (cab required to get anywhere)

Overall, I can't give this place a very good recommendation. It would be a good place for those who like to stay off the beaten path and perhaps honeymooners. Problem is: there are not many good hotels in Luxembourg (at least for a reasonable price).

I have an office in Luxembourg and I've stayed at the Hostellerie du Grunewald a number of times. I've enjoyed every minute of my stays.

The main business of the hostellerie is their famous restaurant, and the entrance that is common to the hotel and the restaurant, while small, is rather grand.

The rooms are nice and stylish with an antique flavor, and while this is not a 5 star property (no A/C, usually something like a chipped mirror, etc.) I cannot think of a more elegant place for the money.

Service is wonderful, and breakfast is an absolute feast. A wonderful place to have either a romantic start of the day or an impressive early business meeting.
