We arrived after dark and walked into what looked like a run-down, HUGE hotel made by a tired willy wanka. Apparently the hotel used to be outdoors, with a pool in the center and all the rooms overlooked the pool from their balconies. Then someone bought the place and enclosed it. Horrible idea. It made the large space seem claustrophobic and dirty. I was creeped out and almost made a beeline for the door, but waited to see the rooms.
We stayed in a king close to the front of the hotel on the side next to a joining bar that was packed. The room was big and clean. Sheets were definitely laundered recently, plenty of comfy pillows, nice mini fridge and microwave, and typical bathroom. The only thing was the shower room (shower and toilet seperate from the sink counter) smelled like smoke. It was as if someone was smoking in a room above or below us and the cigarette smoke was seeping through the vent in the bathroom. We were so exhausted we just kept the door closed and didn't notice it in the rest of the room.
My fiancé went to the breakfast and said it was standard and good: scrambled eggs, cereal, waffles, English muffins, etc. The next morning with light, kids were playing in the pool and the hotel seemed less creepy. However, if you're looking for your typical Days Inn with a small clean lobby and cozy bright feeling, this is not your place. If you just need a room for the night to crash in, you will be satisfied with the cleanliness and comfort.
