Just off I-5, this motel is typically frequented by travelers needing a stopover on their way to somewhere else, but my wife and I stayed for a few nights as we were visiting the wildlife refuges in the area. It's obviously been around for a long time, as the design of the buildings and the room layouts are identical to many other 50+-year old motels we've stayed at before. It has been refurbished fairly recently, but the somewhat updated decorations and furnishings can't really disguise the squeaky floors and lack of insulation that mark it as an older motel. As other reviewers have remarked, the courtyard in the center of the complex is pleasant, with a swimming pool that looks well-maintained, and gas grills for use by guests.
Our second-floor room was fairly large and clean, with modern plumbing fixtures, an in-room refrigerator, and serviceable Wi-Fi. As my wife and I are smokers, and this was a smoking room, we appreciated that it had a ceiling fan, which was surprisingly quiet and helped keep the air circulating so the room didn't get stiflingly smoky. The bed was reasonably comfortable, although we really couldn't tell the difference between the "soft" and the "firm" pillows. The shower had plenty of hot water.
Other than coffee, I didn't partake of the breakfast items, but there appeared to be a slightly nicer variety than many of the "complimentary" breakfasts included in the price of a stay at motels of this class: I noticed eggs (precooked omelets), pancakes, yogurt, sticky buns, bread for toasting, and oatmeal.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, with the check-in and check-out process going smoothly and swiftly, and housekeeping unobtrusive and accurate.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay here, and will probably use this motel again on our next trip to the area.
