“Perfect Wedding Venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Mill Hotel.
Everything was perfect. The hotel grounds were beautiful, Shelley and the staff were friendly and organised, everything ran smoothly thanks to their help and coordination and they helped us at every stage even until the end. The food was delicious. All our guest commented on the nice meal they had.
Perfect wedding venue I would highly recommend to anyone planning their special day.
BIG thanks to The Mill staff

We elected this venue for our annual Christmas party as it was one of the few places that boast a live band as opposed to the ubiquitous disco.

The room was compact & bijou, but as we were only staying for one night it was just about acceptable. The TV was circa 1980 but we wern't visiting to watch TV so no problem there.
I just wish that Hotels would realise that supplying shampoo, conditioner & shower gel, no matter how nice, is not compensation for a threadbare carpet and dated decoration.

Even though it was a Christmas party and the food is never great, the food was served efficiently, everything was hot and of reasonable quality.

The band was very good and all our party had a really good time.

Breakfast was good, again all hot and tasty.

The small size of the room and its functional ambience would not encourage me to visit for a romantic get away, even though the Hotel itself is pretty and the surrounding countryside is a joy to behold.
The 10 o clock check out rule is a tad ungenerous. The bar not opening until 6pm is just bizarre. it is these quirky inconveniences that prevent me from giving a higher rating, but overall we enjoyed our stay here.

“Rubbish grey food made for people over 60 without functioning tastebuds”

Only came for lunch and was highly disapointed. Agree with other reviewer about overpriced food. I sent back my murdered brocolli, duck was over cooked and chewy because the sinew was not removed before cooking. Starter of chicken terrine was unseasoned and lacking in any flavour other than bland chicken breast. All very dated and dull.

“Lovely Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

We were upgraded to a bridal suite which was lovely and roomy plus huge bathroom. These suites overlook the lake and were very peaceful apart from the ducks, although it might be different in the summer when the hotel is busier. We found the food good and plenty of it and the breakfast was freshly cooked. Many people came in for celebration dinners. The staff were friendly. The only thing for us was the lighting in the room but we find this in most hotels we stay at - they do not seem to believe in bright lights. It was an ideal spot to visit Iron Bridge and all the associated museums, etc. Would certainly stay again.

“Not again!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011 via mobile

I've stayed here twice this year and only really because we had to. The 1st I was best man at a wedding and secondly another wedding was at the fox inn not far from this hotel but the fox hasn't got rooms so we had to endure this hotel again. The rooms are so dated, the interior decor throughout leaves a lot to be desired, it cost us £96 for what was a normal room and that didn't include a full breakfast!! To top it off we had to vacate our room at 10am which is just bad manners! Never again unless these matters are attended to.
