We decided to go to The Talbot as we thought it would be a bit special. It is a pleasant pub and the bar staff were polite and welcoming. We ordered two crab and prawn salads and a portion of chips. We were brought a glass of this salad and queried that it was a main course as it looked like a starter. We were reassured that it was main size but the new(?) waitress went to check. The chef said he hadn't seen that she had written main and put a bit more on top. My husband wanted to leave but we had drinks to finish and I thought there might be more crab etc. It was bland and NOT what we would consider a main course. If we hadn't ordered chips we would have been hungry. Our mood was dismal by then and we just wanted to leave when we should have been celebrating my husband's birthday. We offered to pay for a starter but, to their credit, we were not charged for the food. The management of the pub need to review some food items. They serve good quality meat from a local butcher which one would expect to pay a bit more for BUT some items like Risotto £16 and our salads for £11 seem very overpriced for a pub especially if they don't come with any chips/potatoes/bread etc. .
