“Beautiful hotel in large landscaped garden”

I agree with all the other reviewers. This charming hotel in a beautifully restored old building sits beside the Vezere River in the pretty village of Montignac. Isabelle and her husband, who both speak fluent English, were wonderful hosts. We scored a free carpark on Place D'Armes right outside the hotel. If all the parks in the Place are taken, there are plenty along the river just a few steps from the hotel. Our large room had a view over the pretty courtyard and garden at the back, and the river just beyond the garden gate. There is also a nice swimming pool if you're there in the warmer months. Our decent-sized bathroom was immaculately clean and had a nice bathtub. The delicious three course dinner (4 or 5 choices for each course) cost us 39 euros each and the breakfast buffet, one of the best we had in France, cost 14 euros each, which we thought was quite good value. The Grotte de Lascaux, which we were glad we took the time to see, is just a short drive from the village. I have no hesitation recommending this hotel.

“VERY GOOD HOTEL WITH BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

La Roseraie was a nice change from the busy city of Sarlat. The setting and the room were great. Isabelle is always there and a good host. Plenty of parking. My only negative was the prices in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast.

“Our favourite hotel in Dordogne”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

We stayed here two nights. We were a family of four on a bike trip. We adored this family-run hotel, as did our childre (aged 3 and 5). The couple who own it were extremely helpful and charming. We were the only couple with children, but no one minded that they were not always at their best behaviour. Our kids loved the pool, the roses, and the cherry tree. We felt safe because a wall surrounds the gardens. The restaurant food was exquisite and there was even a kid menu. We stayed in the largest suite and couldn't believe how lovely it was. This was, by far, our favourite hotel to stay in.

Room Tip: The big suite was wonderful.

“Charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

Charming historical hotel run by equally charming multilingual professional couple who delivered sublime service . The food was of the highest order which is extraordinarily difficult in an area of the world where restauranteurs excel. The private walled grounds host lawns, magnificent trees and a refreshing pool . This is an old building of great character and the clean rooms are similar but comfortable. The house guest list of apparent travel savvy and sophisticated couples probably reflects the normal clientele

“Lovely hotel, great service and so wonderful people”

We enjoyed staying in this hotel for two days. We have eaten here also two evenings.
Everything was perfectly organized.
The welcoming, the room, the service, the beautiful house and furniture, the garden, the pool. All perfect!
Breakfast buffet, more choice than you good wish for. Fresh fruit etc.
The evening meals were very nice cooked, served by people who enjoy there work and know what they were doing.
Beautiful dishes accompanied by delightful glasses or bottles of wine from the region. (also from the rest of France or the world. But we wanted to drink wine from the region and we were very suprised by the good Montbazilac and the Mirabelle (red wine) )
Take the lobster! And (don't blame me: the smooth foi grasse....) afterwards I had a plate filled with the cheese from the basket. MMMMMMMMM
Thanks to all and we will surely return.
