Driving around Europe, I've been staying at hostels and hotels, and I've stayed at a lot in the last month. I therefore understand that there will be differences between different hotels, and problems will arise. I try to step lightly in any foreign country, however, simple problems became major ones at Tott because the staff -when available- are only interested in getting you to go away, not in helping you.
When I went to have a swim, the pool was shut, my card wouldn't let me back in, and there was no regular staff to fix this. The room keycard is wiped out by proximity to credit cards and mobile phones (who would put a credit card sized card with other credit cards?).
The hotel is quite large, with both a large multi-storey hotel, and detached bungalows, yet there are little or no staff to help during hours outside of 9-5. Staff are extremely unwelcoming, and think you're strange if you don't understand Swedish (this is the only place in Sweden or Scandinavia where I experienced this).
They also don't seem to know what they are doing. There are two wireless networks, a secure and an unsecure one. When I asked for the code for the secure network so that I could use my credit card for further bookings elsewhere, I was met by staff with ignorance of their own setup. They weren't interested in finding out the code, and basically told me that unsecure is good enough for me. When I asked to speak to the manager the person working reception told me that they weren't onsite, and didn't know when they would be. This was at 2pm on a Thursday, in a large hotel = a lie.
The room was quite nice and new, however I wouldn't stay here as there are numerous hotels in Visby and on Gotland, some more central, and others further into Gotland. The price was quite high for what you get.
