Just by the seafront (about 100 meters up) is this very well layed out resort situated. Interesting (not spectacular) functional design and quite typical in the Swedish architecture during the 2000s. Funkis design mixed with minimalistic style and loads of New York inspired black & white. Probably nothing for the traditional type that is looking for a classic resort but for sure something for someone looking for a bit of style on the beach.
So what about the features? Well we visited during the post summer season so many of the hotels prime attractions had been closed for the season but still it had something to offer for all of us. Walking on the beach, swiming in the pool, reading a book in the lounge, hanging out in the well equipped bungalow (with full kitchen, two bedrooms, large size bathroom, open fireplace and sea facing deck with sun chairs) or getting around in Visby.
It is about a 15-20 minute walk from the heart of Visby which is a lovely medieval town that just has to be visited. Loads of good restaurants, shopping and plenty to see in terms of history and culture. Just the walk to and back from Visby by the sea front is worth the stay. Great !
The bungalows are very well equipped and superb for a family. My parents stayed in a hotel room that was pretty decent size as well and good for them.
Final remarks, food and service. The restaurant was only open for breakfast but that was both good in terms of choice and quality. Service, excellent and its rare to find a place where they really do care. Extremely kind, proactive, caring and not once did we have to remind the staff about something they had forgotten to do. We were probably a bit spoilt on the service side as it was post season but with that attitude they can't go too wrong even with the hotel at full capacity.
So, all in all, very good four star hotel that doesn't pretend to be something more but on the other hand delivers well in all categories and therefore don't run the risk of falling into a three.
