Great ski resort, but very lonely, empty during week day in early May 2008. Without the snow why go there. I was doing business in the Wonju area and found what seem like a great place to stay. Short commute along Expressway 50 to Wonju. Except the hotel does not have Internet in the rooms. And no chairs/table either. Not really designed for western businessmen, much better suited for solo or families staying for a week. I had to wait 40 minutes to have a room with bed prepared, most rooms are Korean inn, sleep on mats on floor and sit on floor. Hardwood, but still the floor. If you don't have a car you will be stuck at the resort waiting on whatever shuttle bus service is available. No nearby restaurants to speak of so you eat all meals at hotel. No shopping off-season as the locals close up their ski shops for the summer. Dirty glass left in bathroom. Only provided three towels for room each the size of a hand towel. No shower curtain so water went every where else. Trash cans too small if cooking food in room. Small frig, two burner stove provided along with plates/silverware/dishes. If not interested in outdoor activities go to basement of main building for bowling alley, video games. Only Internet access was in business center which allowed smoking making it difficult to stay for any length of time. Computer room open from 11am to 2am, so how do you check email in the AM? Resort is hosting World Snowboarding Championships in Jan 2009 so they need to upgrade to appeal to western tourist. And the door key is really a key with large attachment which you stick inside door to activate lights. A simple "credit card" key would be so much better.
