“Great Location but average accomadation”

Firstly I must say the location is as good as it gets, you have the farm all around you and the beach within 5 minutes walk so this is 10 out of 10 but compared with the rest of New Zealand I found the welcome and accommodation very different here and very disappointing. Both my wife and I had the feeling from our hosts that we should be grateful to be staying in such a wonderful setting and as such we feel that less effort has been made with the accommodation. Inside the cabin you have most of what you need but it is very dated (it is clean) and limited effort has been made to update this, and when I compare this with other places we stayed on this holiday where they have made an big effort then I have to say it is not good enough.
The final insult came when at the end of our stay we were charged a higher price than agreed and it again felt as though our hosts just could not get our money quick enough and have us on our way.

I am pleased that 'yellow' enjoyed staying at our location. Yes, we do consider ourselves very blessed to live in such a beautiful location and we enjoy sharing it with our guests. Yes, our accommodation is not 5 star but we do not market it as such. The pictures on our web site show our accommodation as it is. I really have no idea about the pricing issue. I ALWAYS give a quote at the time of booking and that is it. A bit of a mystery really.

... we LOVED this very special place on Otago Peninsula!! The cottage was adorable, clean, bright, great views and everything we needed to be at home and comfy for 3 nights. Would have loved to stay longer. The beach was spectacular and very short walk was just as spectacular through huge yellow lupines that opened to the private beach. We saw seal lions, birds and completely enjoyed the ambiance of this amazing place. Hosts Christine and Sam were fantastic!! I dream of the day that we'll be back!

“Beautiful quiet location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2010

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst exploring the Peninsula. It was a lovely quiet spot with an amazing outlook. A 5 minute walk to the nearby beach and we were spotting local NZ fur seals. Bronco the cat was interested in everything we did. Our hosts Sam and Christine were really lovely friendly people and made us feel very welcome. The cabin provided everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

“Fantastic stay at a working farm!”

The host, sam and Christine are an awesome couple who went the extra mile to make sure we had a wonderful stay.

The cottage which we stayed in had "everything that we need" as quoted by Christine. The view are wonderful and fascinating! Just behind the cottage, you can walk pass a paddock to a beach whereby you can see blue penguins as well as sea lion :)

Not to be missed is Uncle Sam's evening tour whereby you feel feel the most privileged being in the world to be shown the natural beauty of east cost NZ... Seals and Sea Lions as well as the critically endangered yellow eyed penguin. Uncle Sam is involved in conservation efforts with the DOC to help increase the population of the penguins.

Definitely a must for nature and animal lovers
