“Great Experience from Start to Finish ! I will definatelly return to this hotel as I found the staff to be excellent,”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I stayed in the Talbot Carlow last week on Business and from start to finish my experience was excellent. My first point of Contact was Lisa on reception when I called to enquire about availability. From the Time of my arrival I felt very welcome and fully informed of all the great facilities by Lisa. The quality of the Hotel & Food was excellent and I will definatelly return again. So much so I felt it important to share my experience on trip advisor. “Midweek Disaster”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This was my second time to stay at this hotel and will definitley be the last, we stayed here for a family break with our 15 month old son. On arrival I requested a travel cot for our son and was told it would be brought to the room. After 6pm I requested a travelcot again and was told it would be brought to the room. The travelcot never arrived. That night the alarm in the hotel went off four times, each time waking the baby and taking me for what seemed all night to resettle him. The next day we were all too exhausted to do anything. The pool facilites were disgraceful with no family changing rooms leaving myself, partner and child to change in a disabled toilet. These are the things that don't normally get to me, but with the lack of sleep and a cranky child it was the breaking point for me. The one thing that was nice about the hotel was the food, although the restaurant was not very child friendly. When we arrived at the front desk of the restaurant, I asked would it be okay for us to bring the little man in becuase the restaurant seemded paticularly quiet. The waitress turned and repeated this to the more senior waitress who said, " just put them over there in the corner at the far side of the restaurant" the CHEEK! This was a disastrous midweek break that we really needed and were really looking forward to. I would discourgage any family planning on staying here, I wish we had of stayed at home.

“Not a 4* Hotel - very disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

This hotel does not relflect the 4* rating advertised on its website. Arrived at approx 4pm to check in for a leisure break of 1 night. Reception staff were very polite and friendly. The check in process was fast and efficient and we then entered the lift. This was the final good impression of the hotel. On exciting the lift on the 4th floor, the walls and carpet are shabby, dirty and in need of cleaning and attention. We entered our "NON-SMOKING" room only to be greeted by a strong odour of stale smoke even though the room window was open. Carpet in the room was also stained. On contacting reception we were moved to another room by a very polite Manager. On entering our newily assigned room on the 2nd floor, it was evident the standards of cleanliness at the hotel are not maintained to a high standard. The bedcover on one of the beds in the room was badly stained and the batchroom needs some cleaning attention and the towels had a grey appearance - not white! Beds in both rooms were not of the usual standard expected at a 4* hotel, they were low and had the appearance of cheap/bargain beds.
We decided not to stay at the hotel and checked out immediately.
The reception did offer us another room or assistance in booking an alternative hotel.
Would not recommend this hotel. It does not meet the expectaions of a 4* Star hotel.

“So close yet far - incredible deal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The hotel is only 50 minutes drive from Dublin, and only 15 minutes walk to the town centre. Food is excellent and the staff extremely helpful, the beds are really good, we slept like babies!
The town centre is very charming and has great shoppes, the farmers market is every Saturday from 8-12noon so if you get up early is worth the visit!

Will for sure come back soon! the package deal was unbeatable, thanks heavens for the recession!
