I just read a very poor review of this hotel and had to write my comments in its defence. Friends of mine got married here last year and it was a fantastic success. The meal was great with offers of second helpings to all guests, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The party went on well into the night and the staff even rustled up some more food for us later that night. They really went above and beyond and I still talk about the wedding as being one of the best i have been to for the amount of personal touches and hands on serivce on the day. I imaginne the hotel would be just as welcoming to any guests for a holiday or short break also and its much more homely than the big soul-less hotel groups.

Ballykealy is an excellent hotel and a superb setting and local staff. They have the best function room for weddings in Carlow. Have a look at their website just to see the setting.

There are only two words I can say to describe our time with this hotel - NEVER AGAIN!!! Accommodation is below standard. This we could live with, however, the staff were rude and unhelpful. We wanted to find something positive to say - but we couldn't find anything!!! This hotel is an embarrassment for our tourists.

Stayed in BalleyKealey Country House Hotel last weekend. I found it a very peaceful place with lovely gardens and walks, the staff very helpful and friendly, food was excelent and lots of it.Rooms were nice. I will go back again to BallyKealey.
