This hotel is located halfway up a mountain in Beatenberg, about 30 minutes drive from the town of Interlaken. The road up was very narrow but very scenic, passing by the small town of Beatenburg. As it was a rather new hotel, my driver lost his way finding the hotel.
It was 1 night before Christmas Eve when we arrived and the place was already lit up well and cozy for Christmas. The hotel had a very spacious lobby to hold the many guests with a TV and the bar area for chilling out at night.
I had a room facing the main driveway but easily accessible from the main lobby while some of my friends got a room way far on the other end, but no complaints, you get an absolutely fantastic view on the balcony. If it wasn't winter and so cold, we would have set at the balcony with our coffee!
My room was a masionette apartment with a small kitchen area with stove and dining area, before entering the TV area. The bedroom and bathroom was downstairs. I would have prefer my friend's room layout with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs instead but nevertheless we were fine. The climbing up and down can be quite a hassle especially if you have kids but it's fun. And no TV in bedroom.
There were plenty of heaters to warm the room except in the bedroom (we don't seem to find any).
The rooms were cleaned daily except I wish they didn't re-arrange my stuff. I left my souvenirs on the table and when I came back it was next to the safe box. Although nothing particular about it, it almost gave me a fright (I thought I lost them.)
There's laundry available too at level 2 but across the garage. Make sure you are dress well especially in winter. We were running around in singlets and shorts! Perhaps they could put a TV in the laundry room? It took 1 hour to wash and 1 hour to dry, and we have to keep running up and down to check on it.
Perhaps it might not be so ideal during winter because the roads do get stuck when you are travelling down to Interlaken town and you could end up stuck in the hotel for hours...
Overall, it was a heavenly stay. Very cozy and comfortable.
