Diablerets itself is a lovely little town, very friendly people, great slopes for snowboarding, especially the glacier, and at christmas/ new year it is totally idyllic, like a picture from a chocolate box, and there are regular buses from outside the hotel to all the different skiing sections.
We had booked through the Diablerets site, we had a special package deal with ski passes, vouchers for sledging and half board. For 3 star the room was a bit shabby. No basics like a hairdryer, small scruffy table with chairs in the room, a sofa with dirty cushions and a very dusty disused kitchenette unit sat in the corner, but there was a tv, lovely shower and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was good, with a selection of cereals, meat, cheese, yoghurt, tinned fruit and pastries, with a good choice in bread, but a disused toaster sat on top of the unit which would have been nice to have. The reception staff were a bit clueless, none of them seemed informed about our package deal, or how to use our vouchers, and in the end we had to go to the tourist office to get any usable information. The bar was nice and the staff were friendly, and fortunately the noise at night didn't bother us especially if you close the outside shutters. The evening meals were brilliant, as these were served in the Diablerets 4 star hotel which was only a short walk away. I found the staff there wonderful, always willing to translate the menu for us and the food was brilliant and as part of the package we could use the swimming pool, sauna and steam room at the Diablerets too.
Overall, it was a comfortable stay, and I would go back.
