“a home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

We spent two nights au Relais du Silence.
Had breakfast in the sun, a nice kitchen at our disposition as well as an excellent service.
Un hotel de charme with a nice view on les diablerets. The owner is a charming and funny guy and very interesting to talk to. each room shows a different 'swiss style'. We felt at home and will come back.

“A very nice place...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

We went there for a "knitting week-end" and booked 8 of the 12 rooms so we had most of the hotel for us.

Everything was great from the location (beautiful view, quiet place, walking distance from Les Diablerets), to the food (great cook, good quantities, good prices and very good food) or the rooms (lovely decoration, great beds, clean, shower and toilets in the rooms, nice balconies, spacious, ...). The place is just lovely and well decorated. It's typically swiss without being tacky or overdone.

The hotel provided free parking spaces for all our 5 cars (we were 12), free wifi, a cozy living room where we spent the rainy Saturday and our evenings, the owner was welcoming, the helping lady was nice and the cook talented and very patient and helpful.

We'd love to go back and probably will do asap !

“A small jewel with beautiful view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

We regret to spend one night only, we would have stayed longer but couldn't. The hotel is perfectly located with a amazing view to the mountain. It is perfectly maintained, very clean and decorated with taste. The room was very comfortable with a balcony and all needed amenities. We had diner and lunch, both prepared with local, natural and tasty ingredients. Staff was very friendly. We will return one day for a longer stay, for sure

“Reasonable value, excellent views, great breakfast”

An excellent hotel; the room was very spacious, the view from the balcony was excellent and the breakfast the next morning was the second best of our entire trip, which is saying quite a lot believe me. The common area was very warm and inviting, it would be an interesting place to be during the busy winter ski season, though it's relatively dead in the summer. If you enjoy driving the road that leads up to this hotel is AMAZING, one of the best we found in Europe; I drove up and down it 3 times just for fun. The price was maybe a BIT high, but not too bad for Europe. Our only complaint was that the room itself had a somewhat unpleasant smell, I think probably it was all of the hardwood in there but I'm not sure, and who knows, someone else might like that smell and you get used to it soon enough anyway. PS there are a couple resident cats who live in the hotel, which we loved, but if you're deathly allergic to cats or something you might want to inquire about that.

“A gem of a place - not to be missed!!”

The owners describe this as a 5 star B&B rather than a hotel, but it's much more than that. Frances, the owner, sold one of his Parisian art galleries to fund the rennovation of this old Swiss finishing school and the evidence of his artistic flair is to be seen throughout the beautiful lounges and sitting rooms downstairs, all of which are available for guests to use.
The whole place is beautifully furnished to the highest quality and Frances and Charlotte are exceptional hosts, always ready to have a chat as they welcome you into their home.
We had dinner there over 3 nights (not a set menu, so you just take what's set in front of you) - the food was to the highest standard and most enjoyable.
Our whole stay was wonderful and we look forward to our next visit to Les Diablerets.
