This hotel is just a stones throw from the main promenade. If you're looking for a wellness hotel with swimming pool this is definitely not for you. If you want a great friendly hotel with a personal note, then this is just for you. The couple that run this hotel are friendly and gave us lots of advise on where and when to go. The rooms are perhaps not the most modern, but very comfortable nevertheless. Although central, we had no problems with traffic noise. In the evening we enjoyed a glass of wine on our small Veranda. I slept like a baby. Daily newspapers were available for the buffet breakfast. Parking space right in front of the hotel. Simply wonderful people. We highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Ascona.

We arrived in Ascona on a very busy weekend and most of the hotels were full including Hotel Luna, however Glenn (the owner) was extremely helpful and offered us one nights accommodation in a double room and two nights in a single room. We agreed to the one night in the double (which was a great, large room) but thought the single room was too small for us. When we enquired about a laundrette in town, Glenn said we should give him our laundry and that his girlfriend would take care of it for us! This has never happened to us in a hotel before! (Thanks again Patricia for the laundry we really appreciated it). We enjoyed our night's stay so much that we opted to stay another 2 nights even if it was in the single room!! Don't let the location deter you, it only takes about 7 or 8 mins to walk to the lake front and centre of Ascona with its shops, restaurants etc. We loved the little "extra" attentions to detail in the rooms, and the fact that Glenn was always cheerful and willing to share his local knowledge - its clear these people love what they do and they do it well. We travelled in Europe for 8 weeks on this trip and the Hotel Luna was one of the friendliest hotels we stayed in. Great find.

Ascona has a reputation for being expensive but this hotel bucks the trend. The hotel is well-situated (5 minutes' walk from the lake) but far from the noisy bars and restaurants on the boardwalk.
- The decor and furnishings are a bit dated and old-fashioned which helps to keep the hotel rates low.
- Avoid getting a room on the street side as it can get a little noisy with the traffic
- If you're looking for the best room value in Ascona and you don't mind sharing the toilet/shower, then ask for the large basement room for 50 Sfr /night.
- The hotel manager takes a real interest in the hotel guests and he has a reputation for assisting guests with all sorts of issues.
- The breakfast buffet is very good.

Only a short, relatively flat walk to Ascona's lake foreshore. Comfortable, quiet room, although relatively small. Lack of airconditioning could be an issue mid-summer. Ample free parking. Would definitely stay here again.
