It is a beautiful property with a fantastic lake vista. We booked late and got their last room, unfortunately not one on the lake side. The room was small and basic, but generally clean. It did have a slightly smoky odor, despite this being a nonsmoking hotel. Staff was helpful with restaurant recommendations etc. Breakfast was very pleasant, with good European breakfast selection in sunny rooms overlooking the lake.
Large reason we chose this hotel was the indoor pool. It was, again, a wonderlful location and view, but only moderately clean. TV was small with one English channel which did not work :(

We stayed a week in Ascona at the Collinetta. We were so impressed with the level of service we got upon arrival. Luca Foster and his family were so great to us.
The room was very clean and comfortable. It had a nice, large bathroom and great balcony with a beautiful view of the lake (see pictures).
Not only was the service great but the food was excellent. They put out a large spread of cheeses, breads, meats, cereals, jams, fruits...you name it, they had it for the breakfast that was included with the room. The dinners were fabulous as well. My boyfriend and I had the special most nights, just trying something new and they were all good and very large portions. They will sell you a bottle of wine and then they will keep it for you and have it on your table the next night for dinner. They really made you feel at home.
We really enjoyed our stay and we will definitely recommend this place to others.
